Poor, Poor Pitiful Me Lyrics
I'd lay my head on the railroad tracks
And wait for the Double "E"
The railroad don't want no more
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
These young girls won't let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe is me
Well, I met a girl in West Hollywood
I ain't naming names
But she really worked me over good
She was just like Jesse James
She really worked me over good
She was a credit to her gender
She put me through some changes, Lord
Sort of like a Waring blender
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
But these young girls won't let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe is me
Well, I met a girl at the Rainbow bar
She asked me if I'd beat her
She took me back to the Hyatt House
I don't want to talk about it
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
Never mind
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
And wait for the Double "E"
The railroad don't want no more
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me
These young girls won't let me be
Lord have mercy on me
Woe is me
I ain't naming names
But she really worked me over good
She was just like Jesse James
She really worked me over good

Woe is me

She took me back to the Hyatt House
I don't want to talk about it
Poor, poor pitiful me
Never mind
Poor, poor pitiful me
Poor, poor pitiful me

There is a mistake in the first stanza. It is: "The Railroad don't run no more".
This is a great song. It doesn't have the political commentary of many of his songs, but it has that sarcastic bite -- a great bit of humor and poking fun at all of us when we become whiners.
Warren's last verse is gold. I almost typed golf but it's not golf it's gold.
Hilarious song -- poor guy is so down because women just won't let him be, and the women in L.A. and West Hollywood are just eating him alive. I'm pretty sure for everyone listening to the song sympathy is not exactly the first emotion!
Yet another reference to Jesse James.
I believe Warren in the final verse sings the line...
"She axed me if I'd beat her". Pronouncing it 'axed' instead of 'asked' leads me to believe he was approached by a black woman at the Rainbow Bar." She took him back to the Hyatt House.....and then he leaves us HANGING. Details man....we need details.
the Waring blender line is just classic, like the quote about my life being like a chainsaw salad
That "Waring blender" line is pretty poor and pitiful.
these young girls won't let me be Lord have mercy on me
I love that line. Listen to that after a night out on the town or whatever. I will have to agree with warren!
It was actually written about fighting his immoral and illegal urges. Know someone like this..,, sad situation, but warren pokes fun at himself. Love warren!
