This song can be interpreted in may ways, I have a friend that relates this song because of his situation..... Engaged to girl he loved and was certain would be with into old age.... all of a sudden things changed, it was obvious she had fallen out of love, her reasons.... she needed space she needed time to grow on her own, gain independence and be closer to her family - she had moved to be with him initially..... within 2 weeks of moving back home she told him she was dating but nothing serious just dinner, that she wasn't trying to hurt him... within weeks she in another serious relationship and she is also a very religious person, but as with many hard core Christians she hides behind her faith and hides her secrecy and lies the guy she is now with, well my friend has met him once when he visiter her home town, this new guy had always been there and the sad part was he too was engaged, it just seemed that they both decided to live in sin with one another ... others knew this he didn't until it became evident that she had left him for this other guy it had never been because she wanted to be on her own, ....so for him all these lyrics are very relatable.... Can you lie next to her And give her your heart, your heart As well as your body And can you lie next to her And confess your love, your love As well as your folly And can you kneel before the king And say I'm clean, I'm clean For him, he says these lyrics hit close to him because this new guy that is with her, is also very religious and how can the both of them lay there and look up to the king and claim to as clean as they are - both hurt other individuals to be with one another, both claim to be god fearing yet very likely cheated on their fiancees for one another... Tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with my whole heart Oh tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with my whole heart A white blank page and a swelling rage, rage You did not think when you sent me to the brink, to the brink You desired my attention but denied my affections, my affections He did love her with everything, again - he thought she was the one, he spoiled her , took care of her, if she didn't want to work she didn't have to, he was well off. when she left him he had a hard time dealing with it, he didn't understand why she used him and really how much she hurt him. If she had fallen out of love at some point- why not leave why stick around for all the affection he gave her, most likely for the money and gifts until she fell for another guy. Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life Despite what she did, he did still love her and only ever wanted the truth as closure, he would never take her back but would always care about her despite what an evil C * nt she was. So see, the song can be relatable in many situations. |

I think its about a relantionship ending, the girl is too afraid to be alone, despite her arguing. He knows well enough she cant face pain and or her fears alone, that despite things ending he will still be there for her , I also think he is saying once she deals with her fears and any pain she may be going through, she will see how freeing it is after ( by washing away her pain/fears) this is by far one of my most favorite songs by Sea wolf, it can be interpreted in many ways , this was just my first thoughts when i first heard the song. |
