| Oh, Sleeper – Chewing the Stitch Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I think this song is basically Elijah's prayer. It is about a Christian who is asking God to use him to preach the Gospel. He is asking God to use the example of how much he has been changed to show that God is real and does have a lasting effect. As for the main line "chew the stitches until you taste the blood" my interpretation is we use sinful and wordly things to fill the void within ourselves and "chew the stitches" is referring to getting rid of those until you reach God's love, "the blood. In the chorus, when he says, "I can't believe I'm alive after my attempts to feed the pain." I believe he is referring to depression. The bridge is fairly obvious, as he is just stating that we are monsters, but working as a group we are stronger and more resistant. When the chorus says "You are the new sign of proof a calloused heart can still be reached" I believe that is supposed to be another person (or God) saying that his life is proof in God itself because how much he has overcome. At the end, he declares that him and the other saved "rebel dogs" will fight against the World until their deaths and will give no compromise. This is my favorite song and this is my take on it :) |

To me this song is about a Christian who falls and gives into temptation. Afterwards he cannot believe what he has done and has now "found a dark infernal place" inside of himself that he/she doesn't "want to face anymore." At the end he has reached his peak and no longer being able to deal with his failure contemplates taking his own life. Throughout this God (or a close friend) begs him to just take everything back and start again. I can really relate to this song as I have found and still have to face my own "dark infernal place." There are no better words or a better song to describe the cold, empty feeling of acknowledging the darkness and betrayal that lies within yourself. This is my take on the song |

"These Writings are to those who have wept These Writings are to those who haven't yet Gazed deeply enough into the correct resolution Wrong again but stronger now WE CAN FACE THIS Fight life with life FIGHT LIFE WITH LIFE All Glory to the One in Existence Bring upon Your Name, Your Grace, Your Everything ALL GLORY TO THE ONE IN EXISTENCE BRING UPON YOUR NAME, YOUR GRACE, YOUR EVERYHTING Hold hands and stare into the Circle; What are we looking at? Rumors and rumors and rumors Rumors and rumors and rumors Assembly Disintegration Rumors and rumors and rumors PERISH PERISH PERISH PERISHED Tombstones serve as mirrors and the graves are infinite Take a look through the lens and through your eyes End the partitioning Wrong again but stronger now WE CAN FACE THIS Fight life with life FIGHT LIFE WITH LIFE FIGHT LIFE LIFE Enemies Will Go For Your THROATS!" Hope they help ;) |

| Everytime I hear this song, I hate my life. To me, it seems that TDWP is singing about the uselessness of this world, how we all care for money, what the latest "stars" are wearing or how drunk they got, none of our thoughts or cares seem to fall on anything real or substancial, and if you point it out or try and make a change, you get shut down. Everywhere I go I see Christians who go to church once a week, smile and say "Hallelujah!" and live with their "fire insurance" Faith, not one caring for anyone else, everyone so ready to throw away their God and money on something pathetic instead of perhaps feeding the poor or striving to start something real. I have never met my definition of a REAL Christian, and it saddens me greatly | |
