Pulp – Disco 2000 Lyrics 9 years ago
The song is about Jarvis Cocker's childhood friend Deborah Bone.
When Deborah was 10 she moved from Sheffield to Letchworth but she remained friends with Cocker, who sang the song at her 50th Birthday party.

Bone was also an award-winning British mental health nurse who received an MBE for her work for "her services to children’s mental health" in 2015.

Unfortunately she was affected by the bone marrow cancer multiple myeloma. She died at home on 30 December 2014, the day her MBE was announced.

She was only 51 years old.

She is survived by her husband Colin and daughters, Pollyanna (who also works for the National Health Service) and Jem, and a grandson, with a granddaughter on the way.

She and Cocker may never have been more than friends but their friendship was strong and every time I hear this song I stop for a minute and think about this woman and how Cocker must feel every time he hears or performs this song.

and despite the drug use being seen as deviant somewhere inside him an innocent child still exists that people fail to see as they're too busy judging him.
"Sucking on your future like your smoking your cigar, holding on to clouds of smoke like its the only truth"
The drugs are wasting him away and his future too, and he's addicted, cigars cause cancer so it's saying Herion will kill him eventually but he's either pretending it wont or he's powerless to the addiction.

Then "fighting with your windmills on the plains of yesterday"
This is the addict battling his demons, his desire for more herion, the sadness that he is an addict and can't escape the addiction , he may have lost friends or family because of it and most likely has financial problems with feeding his habit.
"History repeats itself I'm sure"
he'll take drugs again just like he has done before.
"Barking at the thunders on your stormy inner sky, shouting at the things that were before"
This is the depression that has come over him now he is no longer high, the sadness of the situation he's in hits him, the itch for the next high, and the memories of how he was before he had an addiction haunt him, he wishes he could be like that again.

The emphasis on the 2nd I know you in the last chorus is a personal touch they know the person well and they believe in him this songs for him.

Despite the lyrics being about a herion addict you can apply it without that meaning, it could also be translated to being about a dreamer or imaginative person.
I apply it to myself as I am a dreamer and tend to float off into my own little world, and the others lyrics can be amounted to feelings such as depression or sadness we all feel, and the innocent child we all have inside us and our imagination that create wonders and stories and memories that overwhelm us with emotion that we sometimes feel as though we wish to be immortal and live in those memories once more.

This song is fantastic my favourite reptile youth one and a personal favourite overall, it's brilliant

Morrissey – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics 13 years ago
I can't believe no one has commented on this amazing song!

Morrissy has a tendency to hide meanings in songs and some of his songs are hard to find the meaning behind so I am going to give my view on what it means to me:

To me this song is about being in love with someone you can't have and it gives you a scared feeling when your around them, you prepared to do anything for them even dying wouldnt be so bad if they where there, in fact it would be a honour.

The bit about "I don't ever want to go because I haven't got one" I think that is where the person singing this song has told their parents their LGBTQ and the parents have ben unaccepting of it.

And the chorous "there is a light and it never goes out" I think is saying that their is a hope that the person will love you back despite yu knowing that they never will.

there are other things it could mean but the themes are:
.Unrequited love
.Suicide
.Depression
.hope

Bronski Beat – Smalltown Boy Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is an amazing song that can have many different meanings however after watching the video It proves that the song is about a boy who due to his sexuality is unable to fit in in a town where bieng gay is unacceptable in life, therefore he is beaten up by homophobes,"pushed around and kicked around" by his peers and this causes him to be lonely so he runs away to a place where it is more acceptable to be gay.

This song is so beautiful and it's my faviroute song and it means a lot to me personally.
