Well, I think this song is about imagery rather than a meaning, like it tries to provoke a scene in your mind suggesting what you should see or feel, personally I always think of being on a Ferris Wheel, stopped at the top sitting next to a girl and watching the land below get swallowed by the night sky, while I hold her hand and look in her eyes, maybe cheesy but thats what a feel lol |

I agree with arxx but I think that Evelyn is actually a woman who passed away and losing her is causing him to debate his religion, the verses Barney sings are the part of him that wants to reject religion, while the clean vocals in the chorus is the guy hoping she is actually in a better place |
