Heroin use isnt really my area of expertise but i can clearly tell that this song is about shooting up heroin to get through a show. The memories as a child were other times that they were fucked up...not always heroin maybe but some drugs. With weed you always have faint mental pictures of different high times. (weed is my area of expertise lol) Maybe heroin is the same way... |

in the beginning he's probably saying that he cuts himself but the pain isn't real...the knife is though. the fragile soul is himself...he sees his life and realizes that he's fragile because of his mental state. He is talking to himself trying to understand himself...who he is...
he can't understand himself even and he wants his wife to make him understand she's there for him...btw i know for sure he has a wife...
he wants his daughter to take his life and make something better of it
after he just got through with a major problem there are more falling on him and now he can't take it anymore so he needs someone "maybe his daughter?" to take away the pain and "fill the empty shell" that is him.
he doesn't understand a lot of things that are troubling him, maybe that's why the album is called "Come Clarity"
i love in flames. this is the first song i heard by them...i instantly fell in love with their music and especially their amazing lyrics. anyway, i hope this helps some of you |

| Dark Tranquillity – Lost To Apathy Lyrics

its about not caring about anything anymore. Introvertive means he's so numb that he doesn't even talk to anyone. he's too depressed to give a fuck about anything. nondescriptive refers to him being so depressed that when someone asks him something he is nondescriptive because it doesnt matter to him. so overcome with pointless tears to test pain receptors probably refers to him cutting himself just to see if he can feel anything. its about someone giving in to apathy...someone like me...im going through this all the time now ever since i stopped being high every second of every day. i cant smoke anymore and im so depressed i cant even feel anything. thats why this song makes sense to me. i can really relate. DT kicks ass! |

It means you cant live your life trying to find what everything means, like the meaning to life...shit like that because you'll never find it and if you do then you wasted you're time because at the end you'll know and then it won't matter because you can't go back and change what you've already done. You only live once and you should live fully and don't let anything hold you back. |

| In Flames – Sounds of a Playground Fading Lyrics

It seems like he's talking about the world (or maybe the musical world) changing with technology and he is afraid of being left behind by the evolving world around him. Sounds of a playground fading could mean that kids are changing. instead of playgrounds, they sit inside all day. The plan is a path to our own destruction. We build the technology and then it replaces us. |

| In Flames – Our Infinite Solution Lyrics

He's depressed and remembering better times to try to feel better. He sacrifices a part of himself to have someone and he's left empty without them. He doesn't want to leave her, instead he wants to hold on to the only thing he has left, which is her. Characters remain the same because she's either the only one he wants or he can't find anyone else. It's a disaster story because there is an infinite struggle in him to try to hold on to her. |

sometimes an atheist songwriter thinks of a religious idea that is puzzling or strange to think about and maybe seems to question religion. Im speaking from experience here haha I sometimes write songs about religion. usually, they are meant to question beliefs like one i have called "A Torn Faith". Anyway, it could still be about religion, but that doesn't make the writer religious in any sense |

"Make me understand you're there for me" is probably referring to a woman that he can't accept even though he loves her. He wants to know for sure that she's there. Maybe he's talking about leaving someone for someone else and he wants to make sure she'll be there. Or it could be deeper than that and he could be talking about suicide but he wants to be sure that there is no "God" so he wont face some type of perdition.
I'm not sure if that's what he meant but I've been in both of those situations and I write lyrics myself |
