To me this song is about the same events as "Kinslayer", but from the point of view of the mother of one of the shooters. He shows empathy for the mother and her pain and some consideration for what drove the kid to do this. I was always curious about his answer (see binni's comment) because it basically dodges the question. It's not surprising to me that he wouldn't want to try to give a quick explanation to such a delicate and important topic. |

I disagree with you Emej. I saw the same interview, but i think his sister's answer and most importantly Tuomas's interpretation of what happened are different from what you said. Here's a little more detail on what was said in the interview. Tuomas's sister was very into parachuting and did it a lot, which made Tuomas (a boy at the time) curious, so he asked her why she spent so much time in that. She replied with a question "why does the nightingale sing?" The nightingale sings because it's what it lives for, it's what fulfills it and makes it feel alive. Just like Tuomas's sister with parachuting. This is all given with a very happy and inspiring undertone, which is reflected clearly in the lyrics and the music. I think your explanation was lacking that aspect, which, to me, is what makes this song so amazing. |

No, no no, the problem is that there are some mistakes in the lyrics. They should be Hold on, to "the Knight" There will be no Shane The song is _clearly_ about a boy and his dog, who he calls "the Knight". The dog is dying because Shane, a boy who has bullied the main character and his dog for years, has harmed the dog badly. Think about it. It all makes sense now, doesn't it? |
