So many of Red's songs have double meanings ("Already Over," "Fight Inside/Nothing and Everything") and this is another great example. "Release the Panic" can mean to let it out, or express your panic, or it can mean to let go of, or get rid of your panic. Our days are numbered and we all inching closer to death. That may be a reason to "panic," but if you have a personal relationship with God, then there is no need to panic, You are destined for a better place. God gives us release from our panic. |

Wow! A dear friend of mine recently went through a bad breakup and before we ever even heard this song, she quoted many of these lyrics to me almost word for word! She told me that he had changed recently and she couldn't understand why. Then she found out that he was seeing someone else and when she confronted him about it he lied to her and denied it! FRIEND: I just want things to be the way they used to be when we started dating. I told her that she is not in love with who he is; she is in love with a memory of who he used to be. SONG: You feel them drinking in your pain to kill the memories So close your eyes and let it hurt The voice inside begins to stir Are you reminded of all you used to be? FRIEND: He said he never really loved me, that that was all just in my head. SONG: You can feel That this love was never real. FRIEND: How can he just walk away like I never meant anything to him? ("Tell yourself its over now, Try to kill a broken vow") But on a deeper level, it's about us running from God. The chorus is His promise that He will be there for us no matter what when we come to our senses and return to Him. "Lie to me You can leave I'll still be here when you see Your not alone You don't have to run again (and) Leave me in denial." Great song! |
