I have known about this song for quite some time, since the album's release, actually. It wasn't until recently however that I was listening to this song on my iPod, and it suddenly hit me: This song makes me think of Role Playing. I have been a Role Player on forums and chats for a few years now, and this song makes sense from a role players perspective: Indeed no one is real, and indeed everyone admits that they aren't real. "Scary monsters and super peeps, the more you dream the less you sleep," I have been in role plays with monsters and people with "superpowers," and I have gotten so into the role play that I would lose track of time and end up role playing until 3-4 in the morning when I would have to work at 7-8 in the morning. The rest is self-explanatory if you read all of it from a role players perspective. I'm just surprised that I had never made this connection until a few days ago. |
