This is about the Theory of reality not being all we see and that everything we percieve as reality is in fact an illusion. Could be about not trusting people as well I guess. But I think the intention is about the first sentence here.
I agree 100%, but would add that Powerman5000 seems to think that either way, it does not matter, since the potential illusion has such effects on us that change our conscience thought patterns. Powerman5000 tends to be very loose with their songs, seeming to use lyrics that encourage thought beyond the song and intended meaning into personal interpretations.

Kickass song!!! Only problem is that the lyrics here are missing the first chorus, between "who's here to stay..." and "Could you predict..." who cares though, gotta love PM5K!!!!

I think this song is explains the virtual setting of everything and the dreamlike state that we're in. Holding high hopes and aspirations to persons and things that we can't attain, therefore...nobody's real.
