Electric Light Orchestra – Turn To Stone Lyrics 11 years ago
That's hilarious, my ranger got petrified by a basilisk last year and I adopted this as his theme song on the walk home from that session! I wonder if there's a correlation between ELO and D&D...

Menomena – Plumage Lyrics 13 years ago
Just trying to go with the theme... A song sung from the perspective of a mom, possibly Justin's, lured into a one-night-stand that resulted in attachment, actually wanting a relationship, and not least of all, an unexpected pregnancy? That last bit is what I'm pulling from the "Now my beautiful hips are tragically wide" line. It makes sense to me as the first song off of a (effectively) conceptual album. It explains the birth of this mother-son relationship that is carried about in the other songs.

Ramona Falls – Helium Lyrics 13 years ago
Also, gotta say. This is Bellyfulla Pt 2 without a doubt, from the whimsical tone to the "oooooh ohhh" voices in the background.

Aha, that does sound even more like what it is. Good ear.
I haven't seen the album art yet, or any packaging other than what's in the videos - did Brent include a lyric booklet or anything else in there?

Ramona Falls – Divide by Zero Lyrics 13 years ago
Does this song end really abruptly for anyone else, or do I have a bad copy of the file?

"And I will take them to my grave / When I lose; it's not up to me" is what I'm hearing.

Ramona Falls – The Space Between Lightning and Thunder Lyrics 13 years ago
"We once thought we'd have unlimited time" fits better with the theme of prolonging everything (rigged watch, flying with the sun, etc).

And, I'm not sure, but it sounds like "We must be in close range" at the end of that refrain.

Mew – Symmetry Lyrics 14 years ago
Sounds to me like it's two people in a relationship, both saying the same things about the other: "You're not the great person you say you are, and I'm the benign one without blame... But, you're still special to me." Thus, the symmetry - they perfectly line up in that regard, mirror images of each other, neither one any happier - or more discontented - than the other.

It's one of those cases where the lyrics read and the lyrics listened to are different. You really need to hear the two of them singing simultaneously to understand the mirrored duality of the song.

Kimbra – Cameo Lover Lyrics 14 years ago
This song works really well as a foil to "Hearts A Mess" by Gotye. Whereas his is about keeping all of your pains inwards, and not expressing yourself and your love to anybody else, her song is a charge to that same character to finally reveal himself, all of his pains and joys and true feelings. The contrast even carries over in the musical moods of the songs.
Perhaps this is just me connecting Gotye and Kimbra after a few hundred listens to Somebody That I Used to Know, aha.

Mew – She Spider Lyrics 14 years ago
It was on the Japanese version alone, apparently.
