Oh Lykke Li. Sex before saying and hearing the "I love you". Poor thing. I feel sad for anyone who ever has sex before knowing the person loves them. And if they have to wonder if the person loves them, I can guarantee that is a relationship that won't last. Ladies- beauty fades. We all grow old and wrinkly some day, so wait out for someone who will love you for you, and not because you are giving him sex. I believe I saw on a you tube clip that she said this song was about rising to the spotlight in her music. Someone doubts her ability to make it big in the music industry and she is saying when she does and they call her to congratulate her, she won't acknowledge it. |

I love to sing this song to my baby when he won't stop crying at night and wants me to coddle him to sleep.
Anyone who's had a baby knows that you get weary and moody from a lack of sleep. When the baby finally falls asleep and its time to go, you stay a while becausae it feels so good to rub their back and hug them. But time flies into the next morning and you don't get any sleep.
As for what the song means, I think she is describing the feeling one feels when they fall in love with someone. Falling in love is an amazing feeling. But staying in love is the hard part that many people now and days do not seem to think is worth fighting for. Too many divorces now and days. It's sad. Love is an action and a choice, it takes work. |

I love Lykke Li's music. She is an amazing artist. I listened to a few of her interviews on youtube, and I get the feeling that she has been sexually abused in her past. The perpetrators that are doing the abusing are commonly within the family, an authority figure, or someone the victim trust. The child almost never fights back because they trust the predator and are too vulnerable to protect themselves. When people are repeatedly abused, they struggle with a warped sense of love. Listen to her other songs and the lyrics: "Love Out of Lust", "Jerome", "Get Some", "Sadness is a Blessing"-the video by Tarik Saleh. She feels constantly abandoned by men whom she tries to keep by giving them sex, hoping that the sex will make them love her. But lust and love are two different things, both of which can be easily confused for the other. I hope she can one day find peace. |
