To me, it is like the singer is first asking me about what's holding me back (Are you half empty?), like past mistakes or maybe people in the past who have hurt me (Did you lose something? Or someone you love?).
The rest of the song is like encouraging me to leave the past in the past and focus on the present dreams and aspirations. To just keep working for the future because dreams are just dreams (silhouettes) without action (lights). |

After watching the music video about a dozen times, what I saw was a mix of clips of dancing with clips of war. The way I see it, the message here is about the military is doing everything in their power to ensure that the rest of us (especially those who are happy enough to be dancing) are safe and sound. In other words, I believe the song is saying "We should be thankful of the military for keeping threats at bay." |
