Silhouettes Lyrics

Are you half empty?
Why don't you fill up?
There's no sense in holding
Onto something broken

Did you lose something?
Or someone you love?
You've still got that story
Tell it every morning

Drivin' down a road, down a road that's rollin'
All the lovely memories your heart's been holdin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Drivin' down a road, down a road that's hidden
All your faithful memories, your faith for livin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
So come on!

Nothing is perfect,
For that there's no cure
So don't you start to bury
The good with the bad, and the ugly

Drivin' down a road, down a road that's rollin'
All the lovely memories your heart's been holdin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Drivin' down a road, down a road that's hidden
All your faithful memories, your faith for livin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
So come on!

And I can feel your heartbeat slipping away
It's hard to catch the light
When you're running from the day
So wait for it, wait for it, wait

Drivin' down a road, down a road that's rollin'
All the lovely memories your heart's been holdin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Drivin' down a road, down a road that's hidden
All your faithful memories, your faith for livin'
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
Nothing, silhouettes ‘til the lights come on
So come on!

To me this song sounds like he is telling someone to realize they can overcome their problems ( are you half empty? why don't you fill up?) And to remember that you don't always know what you're capable of (nothing silhouettes till the lights come on, so come on)

To me, it is like the singer is first asking me about what's holding me back (Are you half empty?), like past mistakes or maybe people in the past who have hurt me (Did you lose something? Or someone you love?).

The rest of the song is like encouraging me to leave the past in the past and focus on the present dreams and aspirations. To just keep working for the future because dreams are just dreams (silhouettes) without action (lights).
