To me this song sounds like a friend or a loved one commiting suicide The fevered plastics that seal your body They wont stop this rain, hey, hey The fevered plastics are a body bag and the rain is tears. Her (it will be a girl for purposes of dicussion) suicide won't fix anything. It may keep the tears from reachign her but it will make the pain for the people around her. I was your eye in the night when the profits fell I said it looks like you summer well I saw you just before you killed yourself (the prophets fell) and you looked fine (like you summered well) I want to stay magical I want to stay (y)earning I want to be able to help you and create miracles. I never want to forget you and always love and want you (I want to stay yearning) I want to feel up on your life I miss you but it looks like you summered well I want to know everything about you that I can (feel up on your life). I miss you but you look better and, because you killed yourself, your happier. All the while the protesters shine the same But you will never notice It's alright All the while everyone else is "protesting" and saying how horrible you and your actions were but you arelucky because you don't have to deal with it. I do have to deal with it but it's okay. I'm okay with what you did. I rely on the process, don't mind the frame I rely on the process of mourning don't pay any attention to how I look because I'm just going through the steps of grief. They will never take this dream from me It's alright ( We'll make it back ) The first line is literally what it says; No one can ever take my dreams of being with you away. I miss you babe I want you back The signs we gave Weren't those signs supposed to last The rainy days The summers back The signs we gave So what was that Now it seems like it's harder for the singer to except it and he's questioning her death. The first two lines are completely literal.We showed each other and everyone that we were completely okay (the signs we gave). Wasn't that okay-ness supposed to last? The tears we cried (the rainy days) the healing (the summers). We showed we were okay but that was it? You know that we have ways to make the seasons touch these words So let me take this Cover your eyes Look away until it fades So far the seasons (especiallly summer) have been symbolic of different stages of an accident (the actual emotional trauma, the healing as summer, ect.)These lines mean: We can make this pain go away faster (by making the seasons touch) and we can get over this quicker. So let me take this pain away from you and you look away until it fades away. All the while the protesters shine the same But you will never notice It's alright I rely on the process, don't mind the frame They will never take this dream from me It's alright These lines mean the same as before. Everyone else is complaining about what you did but it's okay with me. Ignore my mourning because it's looks worse than it is. I will always have the dream of being with you. (You sent me) It's alright (You sent me) It's alright You told me to go away and that you were fine (you sent me). But it's okay with me. Quick Notes: This is just what I see in this song. One of the great beauties in art and music is that the same song can mean ten completely different things to just as many people. I absolutely love this song to death. The first verse just blows me away. |
