| Young the Giant – Strings Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| judging by the title, Strings, i think it's about how these two people are tied to one another. in the beginning it seems that she's reluctant and "shook up" because he's revealed to her ("it's how i lie, what no one told you?)that he has a reputation of either being a fake [a liar] or that he's been with [lied with/ slept around with] alot of women . with this knowledge, however, she still feels like there's stings attached between them, which is why he knows ahe'll stay with him. the choruses suggest that he's trying to show her how bad he is for her, to prevent her from getting hurt by him, but he still wants her to stay with him. they're a big mess, they "move in knots" but they stay together. in using a name, Sherry, it implies familiarity; they've grown more accustomed to one another. in the last verse ("now i can walk... oh you won't hide") it's apparent that she now trusts him completely. in the last chorus, he realises this and wants to show her that he'll be good to her ("i will show you/ BUT i won't lie"); either he won't lie to her, or in knowing that she trusts him, he won't "lie" with her and then leave her like he has in the past with others. | |

this song's pretty straight forward i think. he's gone to the beach to "let [his] hair down" and relax. he just needs to get away for a while to clear his head because he doesn't know what to do about a stressful situation. the line "i don't know what to think with both the curtains drawn" refers to not being able to look outside a window at the rest of the world, since the curtains are closed, therefore he cannot make a sure decision about what to do. "and i don't know about you/ tell me something that i'm supposed to do"; maybe he doesn't know where his relationship is at with a certtain girl, but he still trusts her enough to ask her for help. "runners don't run to me, runners don't say the same old things/racers don't bother me, racers don't say the same old things/but you always do"- he finds some consistency with this girl that he doesn't find with other people. going to the coast sort of like his safe haven from stress |

| Tokyo Police Club – Hands Reversed Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| in my opinion, it's kind of hard for me to interpret the meaning of the verses but from the chorus it's obvious that whoever's he's talking about is a complicated person and is hard for him to figure out (rubik's cube) and that she's fragile (made of paper and glue). "you can buy it in cans, tin cans" is perhaps a reference to collecting cans and selling them for money. i guess this means that he'll work hard to get her? as for the "hands reversed" part; i think i might be reading too much into this, but maybe the girl's left handed. left handed people tend to use the right side of their brain, as opposed to right handed people who use the left side of thier brain. i heard somewhere that the right side of the brain deals more with intuitive and randome and creative, while the left side of the brain is more logical thinking. this is probably why he doesn't understand her, he sees things more logically and she's more spontaneous | |
