Hands Reversed

In the song meanings commentary for Bambi, there's the interpretation that the "kite" in that song refers to the singer's mother's battle with alcoholism... the colorful kite (alcohol) is the only bright thing in a black and white world. The theme seems to continue in this song.

"You've got to come into the kitchen for a crime"-- alcohol is usually kept in the fridge or cabinet "You've got to shoot me up and tie me to the kite"-- the mother is holding the singer hostage emotionally with her alcoholism

"The breakfast of champions is a hedonistic hell"-- The mom starts drinking first thing in the morning and apparently doesn't care about anything but her own pleasure

"You can buy it in cans, tin cans"-- you can buy beer in cans

"I think you've got your hands reversed"-- the singer thinks the mom's logic for defending her choices is completely backwards

"Watching your weekends and holidays combine, etc"-- this set of lyrics talks about the effects of alcohol on one's memory and the poor decisions the mother makes like forgetting to buy actual souvenirs when she went to the beach.

"But when you feel like a million, I feel like a grand"-- when the mother feels great (i.e. drunk), the singer feels crappy.

in my opinion, it's kind of hard for me to interpret the meaning of the verses but from the chorus it's obvious that whoever's he's talking about is a complicated person and is hard for him to figure out (rubik's cube) and that she's fragile (made of paper and glue). "you can buy it in cans, tin cans" is perhaps a reference to collecting cans and selling them for money. i guess this means that he'll work hard to get her? as for the "hands reversed" part; i think i might be reading too much into this, but maybe the girl's left handed. left handed people tend to use the right side of their brain, as opposed to right handed people who use the left side of thier brain. i heard somewhere that the right side of the brain deals more with intuitive and randome and creative, while the left side of the brain is more logical thinking. this is probably why he doesn't understand her, he sees things more logically and she's more spontaneous

I'm pretty sure this is a love song... about a Rakshasa.

it explains why she is so complicated sounding, plus "Hands reversed" is a dead giveaway. This is definitely about a man in love with a Rakshasa.
