| I don't think it is. I think it's a lot more literal than it may seem. As in the music video the girl he's about to propose to the girl that he loves only to find her with another man. He then says goodbye to himself as a "gentleman" and "relationship man" and turns into a typical "player" to escape the emotional drama he's been consumed with. Throughout the breakup she's tried to make it seem as if it's all his fault when all he did was love her. | |

I think you've done the lyrics correctly, kudos. Firstly, Leighton is incredible! To go from My Blood Is Full Of Airplanes and then release something like this! Both are incredibly different styles and yet his voice compliments both of them so well. Definitely one of the most underrated musicians! This, to me, seems like he's in love with this girl and they had plans to be together yet all of a sudden she's gotten cold feet and left him behind. He's trying to manage in his life thinking that she will come back to him but he's struggling every day that she's gone. They were "perfect" until she ran away and now he's afraid to let it go because he feels that she will realise she made a mistake and come back to him. Could be taking the from personal experience and may be completely wrong. |
