This song is about the Thelemic deity Nuit. (In Cain Edlund mentions Nuit directly "Blessed be our lady Nuit.") The use of the word divided is a reference to a line in the first chapter (the chapter given by Nuit) of the Book of the Law (Liber Al Vel Legis). It reads: "29. For I am divided for love's sake, for the chance of union. 30. This is the creation of the world, that the pain of division is as nothing, and the joy of dissolution all." You will also find the dew referenced a line above " and the dew of her light bathing his whole body in a sweet-smelling perfume of sweat." AKA a cleansing effect on his temple before morning come and Nuit (night) is separated from her lover (Hadit, Edlund). |
