To me this song represents the immense strength and courage we all gain when we are truly loving someone. When we say to someone that "every day that you want to waste, you can" we are ultimately saying that I'm truly here for you no matter what happens to us. The line where it says "freedom can make us feel contained" is important and it's about the responsibility involved with freedom and how we pick up one thing to let the other thing go. And that's why when we love it doesn't matter what gets wasted because we are able to live with our decisions in the fact that we've made those decisions with love and honesty :)

just gotta say this song has #swag however as far as meaning goes i think this song is about our search for a global sense of community and how we all as human beings long to find our place in the world... and in that search for purpose many people get lost in the darkness of lies, propaganda, effortless comfort (aka ignorance), and so on. Being "afraid of the light" and "feeling shaky" meaning that we're scared of what the truth holds and discovering that who we are may not be who we want to be; but the only way to know fully is to expose ourselves to the light and not sheltering ourselves behind our own shadows...that's why we join cults because we are afraid to discover ourselves by ourselves, we want help but in reality you gotta do it yourself. I think the title is significant because that's how we literally connect; through understanding. you know what i mean?

At the start of the song she's saying that she knew this guy had her in his grips instantly. She knows that it's bad for her to be so into a guy like him (no one was above him) because he's the kind of guy who can have it all if he wanted it. And ironically he was still able to break her heart because she genuinely felt something for this dude despite her intuitive awareness about his power over her. She'd been abducted by his charm. On the other hand the guy knows exactly what he's doing. He knew right then that she'd been abducted by his powerful allure and he had no intentions of genuinely caring for her and nurturing her heart. He just wanted to steal her away for the sake of his own pleasure. I guess he can't help causing her to fall so hard for him..

This song really just reminds me of being lazy in a relationship. It's saying 'I never saw the point in trying' to create a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship because I'm not willing to change for the sake of this union. I honestly like seeing you happy so I have to let you go and be yourself. I was in a relationship like this for years and at the end of the day you don't want your mutual dependency issues to destroy the love and respect you have for each other and I really think this song expresses that feeling with potent accuracy.
