Katatonia – Evidence Lyrics 1 year ago
Could it be about a person committing crime (bank robbery?) with an imaginary girlfriend?

> We're going in my voice is thin

> When I tell you to remember

> That no one will find you

Could even be that he knows she is imaginary, but being too far gone to understand the implications?

> Everything depends upon you
> If you die I will die too

He would do none of the crime if the imaginary person wasn't there

> I stay too long something's wrong
> You walk out of the picture

The imaginary person is no longer with him.

> I'm the evidence
> You passed the test and that's so good for you

They caught him, but not her - so she passed the test (of courage?).

> O love will you read the letters I will send to you
> Will I come along
> Will they let me out to take the test
> O love is the score enough for me to pass the test

He is now in prison and sends her letters, waiting for him to be released from prison (the score - the result of the crime) to try again.

Evergrey – Solitude Within Lyrics 2 years ago
Or maybe it's about the duality of hating to be alone but at the same time wanting nothing else but to be alone. You want to socialize, talk with others, but also you just want to be left alone by yourself and not talk to anyone.

Katatonia – Takeover Lyrics 7 years ago
It sounds a lot like someone struggling with an addiction that destroys the normal life.

> Unbearable
> To have the beast untied
> The coming of my ruin

> This fever drives me
> Straight into your arms again

Evergrey – Nosferatu Lyrics 8 years ago
While it is quite straightforward at face value - a song about the famous vampire known as Nosferatu - it would be fun to also interpret this song in a different way:

Basically it could be about a bipolar person whose depressive side manifests regularly. The darkness as opposed to the light manic side. Even in the days of manic happiness, the person knows that the darkness is always looming there, ready to rise its head.

> Where ever you'll go I'll be
> Where ever you'll be I'll find you

The dark side is always with him.

> I appear as mist and I come as fog

It is hard to pinpoint when it will happen and how to define it, or control it.

> I fall as rain and I rise like dawn

Rain comes randomly at no specified time, but it is 100 % certain it will happen, just like the dawn. While the depression might be gone for today, it *will* come again.

> Call of your angels or I'll make them stay
> My fate is written and I'll make you fall from grace
> You must leave your breathing life
> Only to be reborn in mine

The person knows it will be with him forever, and can bring him down from happiness with a heavy hammer. Then he will live the life of the darkness.

> I am the legend but your father too
> I grant you my kingdom son

This particular line, I would be inclined to take this literally. The bipolar disorder will be inherited by the person's son, and the cycle (legend) continues on.

> You'll live a life where death means no harm

He might be indifferent when other, even close ones, pass away. It affects him in no way.

The lyrics are about a child killing himself after being bullied.

Code 64 – Leaving Earth Lyrics 13 years ago
What a great song!

The lyrics could be taken literally as (gasp!) relationship gone wrong, but since the title already spells it out, this is more likely about leaving earth literally. Perhaps talking of the human race being forced to abandon earth after having made it inhospitable for life. Incidentally, Arcadia Planitia is an area on Mars, so perhaps the song muses about Mars being terraformed in the future for the event when earth is no longer viable for life.

Funker Vogt – No Tomorrow Lyrics 13 years ago
One of my favourites from them! Such power. The lyrics are a bit more mundane than usual. Judging from the feel of the album, it's probably a sailor finding some joy while docked, before heading off for another mission. The two lines "Here she comes with a load of sorrows" and "A smile that will turn you down" somehow would suggest the woman is not really into it by choice. Maybe the song is about POW women being used by invading armies as prostitutes for the soldiers?

Devin Townsend – The Death Of Music Lyrics 14 years ago
To me it seems to represent the bipolar disorder Devin was diagnosed with, in a way that no one will understand him (or them) except himself.

> They laughed at me but we never bothered

He is happy just the way he is, even though people picked on him for having mental problems

> In things you are
> Are things I need to be
> My friends were there but they never bothered

His friends knew of the troubled mind, but they still accepted him. Also, he also accepted it: what he is was also what his other personality is, because they share the body.

> And it comes...
> To make sure that he will never rise

Maybe he finally was cured, and with the death of the problem, he made a song about it - thus musical.

> Don't die on me
> Don't go away
> When I need you here
> In my need

Finally he discovers that he misses the other personality, perhaps as a source of confidence in friendship (within), and he feels lonesome with the other side gone.

> My friends have come and I never bothered
> Myself and I
> There is no other

His friends finally had had enough of the mental problems and left him, before his curing?
Now it's just himself alone.

On the first reading of the lyrics, I immediately thought of the antihero in Charles Bukowski's Notes of a Dirty Old Man :P The story of the lyrics could almost be a part of the book :P

Project Pitchfork – En Garde Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it could be interpreted as starting to doubt your previous beliefs and instead thinking with your own mind. Perhaps some idea seduced the person, but in the end the person discovers it was not based on what he originally thought it was. In the chorus, the leader of the previous belief tries to get the person back to the sphere of influence.
