The Weepies – Not a Lullaby Lyrics 7 years ago
It might have been written for one of the couples' children (they have a few).

A Great Big World – Rockstar Lyrics 11 years ago
"There's a girl in the tree top looking at the stars
Waiting for a touchdown comin' in from Mars
Thinkin' "is there anybody out there?""
The picture on the album cover depicts this verse. I think it's a very profound evocation of the wonder, imagination, and sometimes loneliness of adolescence.

Imagine Dragons – Amsterdam Lyrics 12 years ago
The "I'm sorry I let/bring you down" lyrics seem to imply that the narrator feels inadequate or worthless. Perhaps I'm overanalyzing here, the mentions of "my left brain" (considered the more logical brain half) and "the tin man" (who, in the wizard of Oz, didn't have a heart) seem to reference a logical, emotionless outlook - perhaps the narrator thought he would be better off remaining logical rather than focusing on his feelings of low-self esteem. In the chorus - "your time will come if you wait for it... it's hard, believe me, I've tried" - he reveals that even someone with a low sense of self-worth like him will eventually have a time when their life gets better, even if it's hard to wait for that time.

Imagine Dragons – The River Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's about him admitting that he's often been selfish (like in the second verse) but trying to make a change, hence the chorus: "I cleanse in the river for somebody else, for anyone but myself", meaning that he finally wants to do something for others rather than himself. Perhaps it's a symbolic cleansing, as in atoning for his selfishness, which would explain why he's doing it "for somebody else" - because others would benefit from him becoming selfless.

Wilco – My Darling Lyrics 12 years ago
I find something about this song kind of creepy when I hear it in its context on the album, two tracks after "Via Chicago" - it's like, you just said you dreamed about killing someone, and now you apparently have a kid who you're singing a comforting bedtime song to? Whoa. O_o

Neil Young – Ambulance Blues Lyrics 13 years ago
I think "An ambulance can only go so fast/It's easier to get buried in the past/When you try to make a good thing last" sums up what this song means. Basically all good things in life come to an end, and sometimes there's nothing you can do to "save" them (i.e. the ambulance). This makes sense, given that Neil has been singing about the "old folky days" that have ended. The "you're all just pissing in the wind" quote, one of the most crudely memorable lines of the song, has a similar meaning in my opinion: that everyone's just wasting their time, and what they're doing doesn't matter because in the end it won't mean anything. I thought it was a pretty depressing message the first time I heard this song, and I still do, but I love the song anyway. Neil, you rock. :)

Bob Dylan – I'll Be Your Baby Tonight Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this is a fine song, but doesn't anyone else feel like it's a little anti-climactic, as the last song of an album full of poetic, Biblical epics?
