This song is a classic :) The thing is even though its addressed to someone called Sally , i think its written for Pattie Boyd. Yes yes another song for her . However according to her interviews , when Eric Clapton serenaded her with Layla she was apparently so overwhelmed she finally gave into his advances . That very evening they met at a party and George Harrison found them together outside talking over things . So this song could probably be from Eric to Pattie that very evening . He says it so himself , how she should stay with him even though she has somewhere else to be . I maybe wrong but contextually it makes sense . |
