Very intricate song, not sure how Tool can be bothered incorporating all this into their songs. I found the song was amazing even before I knew about the Fibonacci connection, the Golden Spiral thing and all that. |

I thought this song was about Hitler when I first heard it to be honest. "Waving and pointing his finger," "He had a voice so strong and loud." But then I guess we wouldn't really miss Hitler, would we? |

I think personally, it's about a relationship ending, and the different stages a person goes through after the breakup. To start off with, he wants nothing to do with her (leave me alone, I'm seething). But then he thinks he needs her, and begins to beg for her back (I search for the truth of love in your eyes, help me to feel I'm needed, I search for the truth that finds you). Then it sinks in that she's not coming back, and he has an emotional breakdown (bust myself back into pieces I, pull at the seams as you start to tear). He just begins to feel numb, and feels defeated (force myself back to my coma shell, no better face left to bare). Then I think the 'I see more than you, and I feel more than you' is something he always ha over her through the relationship. The only thing she couldn't argue with.
