I think that this song is about relationship breakdown, giving it all you've got and it still not being enough. It's also about the silence that saves the relationship - if you don't talk about it the problem isn't there. And then the resentment that builds up because you think the other one doesn't care as much as you do. He's begging the person to work on it, give him some hope that it can work.

see i reckon that these could be anti emo lyrics, especially 'i feel more than you' and all the stuff about busting himself and what not.

I have to say. Could just be me. The song would have to be about feelin all under pressure and what not all the time with peoples expectations. Thats all I think about with this song. But it so isn't emo.
I think this song is a reflection on effect of the media on our lifes and on our view of the world.
Hint's for me are: The title (Shutterspeed), lyric "coma shell" (commercial), "The voices cry, the fashion mould", "Speak to me now with guilded tounge", "These suckers want more, I feel the pressure belonging to all", "Put fear into my mind".
The song may be about multiple topics but the "media" seems to be the strongest theme to me. Reminds a bit of Vicarious by Tool.

I think personally, it's about a relationship ending, and the different stages a person goes through after the breakup. To start off with, he wants nothing to do with her (leave me alone, I'm seething). But then he thinks he needs her, and begins to beg for her back (I search for the truth of love in your eyes, help me to feel I'm needed, I search for the truth that finds you). Then it sinks in that she's not coming back, and he has an emotional breakdown (bust myself back into pieces I, pull at the seams as you start to tear). He just begins to feel numb, and feels defeated (force myself back to my coma shell, no better face left to bare). Then I think the 'I see more than you, and I feel more than you' is something he always ha over her through the relationship. The only thing she couldn't argue with.

hey everyone listen to karnivool. best aussie band ever. Im not commenting on the song cause i dont know what its about i just wanted to be the only person to have a comment on a song, and seeing karnivool are awsome and this was the first single off themata i thought it would be a good choice. i met karnivool there great blokes and wiked musicians. So listen to them adn if you dont think they're the greatest band ever, i will fight you, thats a promise.
