I believe this song is about a woman that has phsyciatrical problems, and is "opheliac" that is self-destructive and suicidial but also depressive and maniac, like bipolar disorder... She is in love with someone that is always by her side and she feeld guilt that she can't be normal for him. Sometimes she is depressed and he tries to keep her up or she is maniac and blames him for everything but he is still there though he can't truly "keep her breathing", keep her happy... She knows that she would never truly hurt him but she is afraid that he will leave her for believing that, that's why she says "It is the opheliac in me", I only destroy myself, not others... I think this is about politics... The whole song kinda fits to this concept. I think this is all about a country that is poor,half-destroyed probably form war, and generally people have grieved many loses (we're all grieving, lost and bleeding) and have various problems that led them some of them to suicide (back door out of life) And this talks about a leader that manages to make the situation better but he/she cares only about their ambitions and led people to fanatism and killing without reason."When they all come crashing down, in mid-flight.You know you're not the only one." (sounds like war doesn't it? or could also refer to the guilt of killing) They claim that's the form of life,the stronger survives, but the singer says: "Never understood this life, you're right.I don't deserve but you know you're not the only one." (i never understood how life works and I don't deserve to be a leader but you are not the only one that can guide us.) So afraid to open your eyes, hypnotized. You know you're not the only one. (they don't find the strength to refuse to kill and torture cause the y feel like hypnotised and afraid that without their bloodthirsty leader they will end up like they used to be) All our lives, we've been waiting for someone to call our leader. All your lies, not believing. Heaven shine a light down on me. (they have been waiting for a leader to help them outta this situation,but not a leader that will make them become killers and fanatics. the singer asks the help of god cause she can't deal with all the pain she has caused) This is kind of hyronic. Don't look down, don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you. Don't look down, you'll fall down, you'll become their sacrifice. (this is the way leaders think. They don't listento the people because they are afraid that if the get too emotionally close they will end up sacrificing themselves for the greater good) Right or wrong, can't hold on to the fear that I'm lost without you. If I can't feel, I'm not mine, I'm not real. (and don't know if the way you rule us is right or wrong but I can't live in the fear that if you leave us we will be lost again. If I keep on rithlessly killing I will just become an object.) That's only mine interpretation...I hope others feel this song like that too. I mean, this song could be about the war in Afganistan or the war that used to rage in Iraq. | Actually I agree with most of you people... For me it is about a relationship. The man (Andrea) feels like sth is wrong(propably cause they had problems and she had once left him -see the chorus, like THAT time-), he is hiding his emotions from the woman (Cristina), uncertain and guilty for them and he ends up lying to her or even cheating on her (depending on seasons, you know affairs things that don't last). After a while all this emotions he kept inside cause a blow-out. Cristina feels terribly after that, full of anger for all his lies but still in love with him and full of guilt for not seeing what's wrong and not realising that he was still affected by her leaving her before. But now she feels he doesn't love her anymore and they can't trust each other and it's best if they both moved on. She leaves him (again) but he is still depressed and she can't understand why she still makes him sad after she left. The problems can't be solved without honesty and trust, and leaving someone won't help him, problems root elsewhere. The both suffered a lot, they where closed deep inside themselves but they are ready to deal with their problems and be happy together, not living just to hide their emotions and run away when things don't go well. For me, this song is about a couple. The woman dies and they say their last goodbye. Staring at the sun no rays down on me I call you in my arms embrace is unreal (This is about her ghostly state. She is transparent and almost invicible and when she hugs her bf the embrace is unreal, like hugging a breeze.) You're moving on we'll never be apart just drain my tears I cry aloud (she is sad she died and they can't be together but she knows they will never be apart as their love will always remain.) You're moving on you'll never be a part of all my tears I cry aloud (She explains him that she isn't crying "for him" it's not his fault that she died, she cries for their relationship. She wants him to move on and find happiness and love again.) Calling on your sins you're here in my dreams a desert place I'm not alone (He feels guilty for her death, he "calls on" his sins, her death, but she hugs him to comfort him and thanks him cause she doesn't feel alone anymore, as she realised how much he loves her.) Do you really want to be me? (He tells her that he wants to die, be a ghost like her, but she explains him the disadvantages of the ghostly state. Then in the chorus she encourages him to move on, not commit suicide to be with her.) This is a truly sad song... Strong loves shouldn't end that way, it so DAMNLY sad. One of them kills another when he finds him sleeping with her "life turned to night as you're asleep blood flowing down, is this a dream?" but he puts the blame on another boyfriend of her, the most innocent of all as he doesn't even know that she is unfaithful "he never choose to play this game taken too far out of control". For me this about a woman that is abused by her husband...Mentally,physically and sexually! She is certainly not an ungrateful bitch as I read is some comments and OF COURSE doesn't deserve abusion! It says "Go on" cause she knows she can'r escape she is trapped in the situation and just accepts it! The man is probably rich and she is poor with nowhere to go, the may have children together... It says "anything but love" cause she knows he is unable to love her and can only offer her money and suffering! I think this is an awsome sing that pperfectly describes the situation of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE which a nightmare to many women....I think that more songs like that have to be written to raise awareness since this is a significant problem of our days that goes against human right!!! Guys this is my detailed interpretention based on my previous comment! I hope I help! :-) Something about you that makes me feel bad I wasn't there when a thin line destroyed your soul (The band wasn't near their friend to help him deal with his problems, his drug addiction and they weren't there when the thin line, the syringe, killed his soul, destroyed him and leaded him to suicide) I search every corner There's nowhere to hide How I feel ignorance sacrifice (his drug addiction made him ignorant of everything around him but his love to friends and family an his will not to worry them made him not ask for help and hide his problems) Some days it's harder Let's face it, it's all about me Deeply into your own (This is about the remorse and the worry his friends felt that they could'nt support him. All his problems were deep in their minds) Deep within me Life's crawling and wasting my days (this about his problems that lead him to drugs and death. He felt that his life is "crawling" he is not truly living his life and he knew that all this situation slowly killed him) Another night gone and I know there will be another way I'm leading myself to be free In this eternal goodbye (He just couldn't stand life any more and decided to die. All his problems made him think there's no future ahead while his drug addiction would kill him anyway. | “Within Me” was a song that we wrote for a friend that basically, it was not suicide, but basically he let himself go by using drugs a lot. He passed away 3 or 4 years ago now. The fact that we couldn’t do anything. It was not suicide but it was just abusing so he let himself go in a way that we couldn't do anything to help him out. He was in New York and we in Italy so it was tough to stay with him. We were on tour, we had other things to do. So, the idea was that sometimes you want to be there for your friends but you can’t be there. That time we were not there we lost him. It was the first time that happened to us as a band, that you know somebody and work with him and he died like that, in a stupid way. So we learned to be stronger people with that. I think that the true interpertation of this songs lies between the "Love" and "Killer" version... A girl of amazing beauty has a relationship with a loyal boy that would die for her but she craves for adventure so she leaves the boy to follow an attractive and mysterious stranger who is a poet. She dresses up well and gets ready to meet him in his house for a romantic dinner. However he is serial killer that wants her to be his muse and thinks that her death by poison to preserve her beauty "drink for beauty" will "fill his blank page" that is inspire him to write his best poem. I think that the true interpertation of this songs lies between the "Love" and "Killer" version... This song was written by Amy for her little sister that died in a very young age... Bonnie Lee was the name of her sis. The song is so depressing and I think that it reflects the pain of losing a sibling, especially a younger one as you feel like its guardian and blame yourself... Has no one told you she's not breathing ? It is when she was told her sister is dead Rainclouds come to play, again The tears she cried for her little sis Hello, I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to...Hello... Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide... This lyrics however are more like from the dead girl's perspective If I smile and don't believe Soon I know I'll wake from this dream Don't try to fix me I'm not broken Don't cry... All these are about the way she faced it... She kept talking with her sis refusing that she is dead and wanting to keep her alive in her heart and mind... Everyone said her that she is dead but she says don't try to fix me I am not broken like I am not crazy I just don't want to let her it is my choice... I think that this song is very sad and Amy is really brave for keeping her sis in her mind cause it is easy to move on and forget but more difficult to keep tha emotional bond which is stronger than death...
