| I think its a reference to the illusion that many believe is reality. Stuck in Babylon (read:confusion) many can't perceive the truth and never produce anything of substance: like good works. Set your aspirations, blaze a new path where your effect will be greatest and not based on the facade the world has prepared for you, which is truly just serfdom. Like many of us Slug found out the establishment life is not our life: black and dead and void inside. To all the real people out there: Just Let that facade fall dead in the fog, and lets hit that high road out: We just need some faith. What a gem, thank you Slug you are a master of poetry. | |

You're putting words in a dead man's mouth. Most are aware or the references contained in 'Get Up Stand Up' but those who care to see also have discovered Mr. Marleys conversion into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church before his death. This is the Ethiopian state church under the emperor, or your 'jah' : Haile Selassie I. Selassie himself was a member of the orthodox christian church his entire life. Marley was spiritually gifted, there is no doubt. I would have had a hard time believing he didn't come to the light before he passed anyway. I remember "mighty god is a living man" but he also said also "...only a fool lean up on, lean upon his own misunderstanding" What a wonderful gift! Give Thanks and Praise! |
