his song sums up how you feel when you're out lost in the sand or surrounded by jungle. You know you could be sleeping in a cozy bed, eating warm meals, enjoying your family and friends. Instead, you're getting what sleep you can on a cot or the ground; eating MREs or finding your own food or going without food; and cleaning your weapon, watching friends die, and wondering if you will even make it back. Putting on those Class A's to put a friend into the ground is just as bad as the first time you pull the trigger on another human being. Seeing a mother weeping uncontrollably because her baby died for Lady Freedom is a sight one will never forget. This song makes a point about how many soldiers (who see combat) over there don't understand how much danger they are in and how final death is until a buddy, or they, go down. That first bullet wound was a big eye opener for me, as I am sure for countless others. I wouldn't change anything I've done, but it really is hell out there. Just be happy the war is over there, and not here. You may oppose the war, but please support the troops. Hooah. |

This song is an awesome tribute to those out fighting for the US. I wrote a letter much like the first verse on my first deployment. This song sums up how you feel when you're out lost in the sand or surrounded by jungle. I wouldn't change anything I've done, but it really is hell out there. Just be happy the war is over there, and not here. You may oppose the war, but please support the troops. Hooah. |
