It's about transition. Could be either a spiritual or physical transition, or possibly both. The first half could be the physical aspect. He's leaving wherever he is (Italy?) that evening and is waiting in anticipation. The latter part of the song is more spiritual (When is time going to change? I'm ready) and could be alluding to death. Either way it's a beautiful set of lyrics to a beautiful song. |
