I had never heard of Suzanne being in rehab with JT. I was under the assuption that He went to rehab to make his family and friends wanted himto(sik-milar 2 a modern day intervention). The am after he arrived in rehad he became irritable and depressed due to lack of heroin. I can only imagine he detoxed prior, because sans meds, heroin withdrawl excruciatingly painful...I had heard he wrote fire and rain 2to his heroin cookerand other parafanalia(sorry if mispelled). In the story I heard Suzanne is a metaphor for heroin and all the things used to "cook"and inject it. |

Gavin, to me, is definately among the top 5 lyricists of our time, possibly all time! I find him up there with Jim Morrison, James Taylor, Linda Perry(sorry if misspelled), and Trent Resnor. I also adore Gwen Stefani's lyrics, though more straighter 2 the point, contain many "gems" I love to listen to over and over again...As for Swallowed, another fantastic Bush song, chock full of metaphors I love! Gavin rock on!!! |

Hurt, Comedown, and Glycerine are the three songs I most relate 2. Two very tragic and all three absolutely with a theme of drug addiction in some way. |

I personally think this song is Gwen's way of telling Gavin how sad and outraged she feels that he didn't have the safe, drug-free past she previously viewed as the norm. I see a huge similarity between this and Cellophane Boy(sorry if misspelled). It's more touching and personal. It shows her support and love for him . I think it's beautiful. It allows her vulnerability to show and is a terrific explanation for why their love and marriage has lasted though good and bad times, when others crumbled so easily. |

I personally believe tis song is about her now husband, Gavin's once addictions. When Gwen says "Hesatation, and then you sipphon me". She means she wantsto discontinue thinking of his past demons, however, just ends up getting sucked back into the whole mess, as she views it. If you haven't, listen to Cellophane Boy(sorry if misspelled). It too dicusses her dislike of Gavin's "issues". |

Ok, I am a Bush and No Doubt fan; odd as that may be. I honestly don't know if he is referring to Gwen when he says"first you'll crash and then you'll burn" and "i"ll burn before I mellow", however, it was kinda cool on storytellers when she said"those lyrics always gotto me , so I turned them around." b$ introducing ex-girlfriend(no doubt's version). I think the coolest part is they r 1 of the only famous couples still married with 2 adorable boys after all the drama! Go gwen and Gavin!!! |

I love your review! I feel as though you may be a bit naieve about heroin/opiate addiction though. When withdrawing from any opiate sleep is vertually impossible! I feel as though he slept the day after using and woke up no longer high: he'd comedown. I also feel "who was there to take your place may be his way of saying to his heroin that he had attempted to use alcohol or some other drug to reignight his feeling he'd 'comedown' from... However, I agree with the rest. I do feel as though he is speaking to heroin when he uses you and she...BTW, Gavin was addicted to heroin at one point. Infact if you are familiar with Gwen Stefani's lyrics in the No Doubt song Cellophane Boy(may be misspelled) from Return of Saturn, it reffers to her fear of being in love with an addict and going on to bigger commitments with him. Check it out if you have not already. XO Di |

To me this song is clearly about opiate use and the ups and downs of addiction. Right from the start, love and hate. He obviously loves the high he gets when first using., unfortunately he hates the "comedown' when he loses the intence sensation just as much...I also feel as though he is speaking directly to his heroin, which I found quite genious as far as song writing is concerned. Once he slleps the high fades and though I'm not certain, when he says "who was thereb to take your place, he may be referring to either attempting to reignite the high with either alcohol or another drug. In many cases herion is a very secretive addition due to stigma, sham, and fear. By stating "No one knows, never will. Mostly me mostly you", I again feel as though he is speaking directly to the heroin...One more feeling I get from rhe lyrics in Comedown is that this may have been referring to the first time he used, or in the very beginning of his use due to the lyrics, "took me all this time to find out what I need."...When it comes right down(no pun intended) to this song I think it's genious and find Gavin's words brilliant and very easy to relate to in my case. |

I believe each person should be allowed to interpret lyrics the way they relate 2 them. For someone who has never done drugs, this song can absolutely be about the experience 2 them. From wht I know of Bush and particularly Gavin, Comedown is a song first and formost about the experience of heroine addiction. The rush and amazing high(cloud) u get from the opiate in heroin. and the strong desire to keep it from ending(the comedown)...I can certainly relate 2 the opinion of love in the meaning of thisa song; it's one of the few high's as serious as that of opiates. |
