| Majical Cloudz – I Do Sing for You Lyrics

It sounds like he's talking to the crowd. He sings for the people in the crowd and is on stage for all of them. He doesn't have to say goodbye, because he'll be with another crowd soon enough.
But I think this could easily be a front. This song sounds exactly like an experience with unrequited love, especially when he says "I wanna know you, I would love to." I recently had to move away from someone who didn't know how I felt about them and probably didn't feel the same way anyway. Saying goodbye in a situation like that is incredibly difficult, and you pretend like you "don't have to" all the way up to the very end. To me the first and last part where he says "I'm loving you, I want to, I would love to" confirm that that's what this song is about. I guess it could be about the crowd and it could be about an individual, but either way it's a really great song. |

This song is so incredibly powerful to me. It's about that feeling where you love someone so much, and then all of the sudden they aren't apart of your life anymore, and soon you don't think about them at all. This is a good thing, because you've moved past the pain of a broken heart, but it's also very sad, because that love didn't survive. The tone makes me think this song is all about the sad part. You don't wanna be in pain anymore but you wish it just could've worked out in the beginning. |

definitely not a double entendre. he's saying that it takes him a long time to come when he's thinking about him and her. the pause is just a pause. |

"he's unresponsive cause you're irresponsible"
I know they say this a lot in this song, but I think that's okay, because it's probably my favorite death cab line. It just sounds wonderful when he sings it with so much contempt. He might be talking to himself or to someone else, but either way someone did something careless and now someone else has suffered the consequence.
I take the song literally to be an accident, likely drunk driving or something of that nature. |

great track. Etoh is the last name of one of the band members. But it's also the abbreviation for ethanol, you know, that stuff that gets you drunk. |

Said today, you know exactly how I feel
I had my doubts little girl
I'm in love with something real
It could be me, that's changing
I have wanted to say this to so many people in my life. It's about being completely ready to move on. LIke nothing can be said that will change your mind. All you can offer is a half hearted explanation, because in the end it doesn't really matter to you anymore. It's narcissistic, but there's still so much truth to it, at least to me. |

This is one of my favorite ylt songs. It really makes me think about where my life has been. Like I'm watching the sun go down on all of the days I've lived so far. I love songs like that. |

I have listened to A LOT of music in my life. I've devoted myself to listening to music, and I must say that the 90's is one of my favorite eras for music. That said, it BAFFLES me that this band is not recognized more for the perfect sonic balance that they were able to achieve in so much of their music. This song, among many others by Built to Spill, is one of the best songs of the 90's and it's infuriating that more people don't understand this, not because they don't like it, but because they haven't even heard it before.
I love the "and you better not be angry" verse. It says so much of how harsh the world and relationships are. You can't ask for any sympathy, because it's already understood that life's hard. If you don't get that then you're the only one to blame. Basically, take whatever pity you can get, because you won't get much. |

THIS SONG IS AAAAAAMMMMMMAAAAZING. The guitar part right before he starts singing is intense and angry and I love it so much. It just reminds me of how fed up you can get with people in general, especially when they are fake bitches. "After a while you know their style, and that's enough to know they suck!" You tell 'em how it is Doug. |

| The Antlers – The Universe Is Going to Catch You Lyrics

I know I already commented on this song, but I really think it might be my favorite song by these guys. It sounds to me like the singers friend is trying to run away from life. They might be one of those eccentric people who your always afraid is going to die in an accident or commit suicide ("we were worried that you'd fallen in the river, or worse"). I know people like this. They like to be mysterious and are afraid to get close to people. They don't want to fall into the standard pattern of life and death that the universe seems to force upon everyone. This person will try to escape the universe, and in the song they're warning everyone else that the universe is going to catch them too if they don't realize it and try to do something about it. The sad thing is that there's really nothing you can do about it, so the subject of this song is just living within an illusion of freedom. |

The song makes sense since Hospice was about a destructive relationship. He sees how horrible love can be and doesn't want it anymore. |

Lie to me if you will at the top of Barringer hill. Tell me anything you want, any old lie will do" I love this part. I think this song is about desperate love for someone who won't return it to you and has moved on. He's saying that he doesn't care what she said or did as long as she comes back to him. His pleas are not working though. |

I love it when he starts the verse "So they took me to the hospital..." It's a very coherent verse, and it's different than his sort of unintelligible babble. I love his crazy lyrics, but this just stands out so well because of the sharp contrast. |

The first line is amazing. "If time is a vessel, then learning to love might be my way back to sea" You can't keep going until you learn to experience love in this world. I love this song. The last half is beautiful. |

I can't tell but it might be "rolled together with a burning paper heart." Either way it doesn't seem to matter much. I really like this song. I think it's my favorite off the new record. The loop that plays throughout is completely hypnotic. |

"The world screams and falls apart." This song is about the disconnect you want to feel from the world when you realize how unfair and unhappy the world usually is. "At least enough to carry on" is the reluctant acceptance of this. |

I agree with this. The meteoroid doesn't show any light until it interacts with Earth's atmosphere. It's "devoid of the fire" in that it hasn't let off any flame yet. People might be reading "devoid" as the stone missing something that it previously had, but devoid just means something is absent, and it does not imply that something was there and then went away. |

This song reminds me of that time when your starting to grow out of your childhood. Everything around you has felt so familiar, but you also realize how skewed your perception of everything has been within your small world and outside of it. "Been wrong so many times before, but never quite like this." Incredibly beautiful song. |

| Dan Deacon – Snake Mistakes Lyrics
|
|
Snake mistake is a poem by Kenn Nesbitt, who has written a lot of poetry for children. The part about the bees seems to sum up the worries of a child, who would mostly be concerned with pesky bees while playing outside than with any problems of an adult's life. The part that goes "my dad is so cool" is also just another reference to a young boy's mentality, in which a father figure is elevated to superhero status. His dad being "the coolest dad in dad school" refers to how children often don't see beyond the scope of their own lives. A child goes to school, so he would connect this vision of the world to other people; his dad must go to school too, only a school for grown ups. Basically this song is all about being a young child, and this theme can be found in a lot of Dan Deacon's music. It's one of the best aspects of his music. |

I think it's a great song. It has a very intimate feel to it, like it was recorded at a small venue or something. I love that kind of thing, especially against the backdrop of such an epic arena style band like MMJ. |
