Kelly Clarkson – Because of You Lyrics 10 years ago
This song is definitely about growing up in some sort of dysfunction. For me, even though my parents never divorced, their marriage was toxic. My mom would always tell me 'never get married, all men are awful' and, for awhile, I did actually make a vow to myself that I would never marry. I didn't want to chance ending up in a marriage like my parents, miserable and loveless.

I'm so closed off with my feelings and emotions, and part of that is because of what I witnessed growing up. I find myself pushing people away without even meaning to.

Cary Brothers – Belong Lyrics 10 years ago
Wake up lonely with you by my side
One more night it doesn't feel
There are movies playing in your eyes
You dream of our fortunes
But you're wrong
I don't belong to you"

I feel like this first verse is pretty self explanatory. 'Wake up lonely with you by my side' signifies he feels empty within the relationship, perhaps revealing that he's lost and/or is losing his feelings towards her. 'You deam of our fortunes' - meanwhile, she's still completely in love with him, expecting that they'll be together forever. She sees the life they could have, all the 'fortunes' they could gain in the future; what their life will be like. Then he turns around and says she's wrong to think these things, because he knows they won't have that future. He 'doesn't belong' to her because he simply doesn't feel the same way about her anymore.

"The moon is the only friend I have outside
One more drink and I'll be healed
I told you the words and then knew it was a lie
I wish I could offer an appeal"

'The moon is the only friend I have outside' is possibly another reference to loneliness. He's trying to drink away his sorrows. The words he's saying (supposedly lies) could be anything really, though you'd assume an 'I love you.' However, it could be anything he says to her that gives her hope for their future or cements his 'feelings' for her.

"What I'd give for that first night when you were mine
Tried with all that I have to keep you alive
I wasn't taught this way
With a thousand things to say
I was born with a broken heart
What I'd give for that first night when you were mine
Thought you were mine"

This is the game changer. This verse suggests that he's still trying to hold onto their relationship. Maybe, just as much as he isn't ready to admit that they're drifting apart to her, he isn't ready to admit it to himself either. He wants that spark back from when they first met. When he says he 'tried so hard to keep her alive' I believe he's referring moreso to the relationship and his feelings for her. Though he knows it's ending, it's clear he isn't quite ready to give up on the relationship yet either.

"So I'll put this cigarette to bed
Pull some sheets from off your side
I put my arm around you safe in the night
Still dreaming of fortune
But you're wrong
I don't belong"

Self explanatory again. This is him playing pretend, falling back into the patterns of their relationship despite all he's just expressed, and yet again acknowledging that they aren't meant to be together and will not last.

Dark Waves – I Don't Wanna Be in Love Lyrics 11 years ago
In my opinion, this song is about when the spark in a relationship dies. It looks good on paper, but there's no substance anymore. The relationship just seems to drag on, to the point that neither half are satisfied anymore. Hence they 'both know it's not enough.'

The writer uses phrases like 'trapped in each other's arms', where I believe the word 'trapped' plays a pretty big part. The narrator does not want to be in this relationship anymore, but he feels locked in, like he's stuck going through the motions with no idea how to get out.

'If all that we are is two matching scars, lines in a movie' - Again, this shows that the relationship lacks real substance. There's something missing. It's seemingly perfect to the outside eye, but lacks any deep, meaningful connection.

The relationship, though it used to, does not satisfy the narrator anymore. He used to think it was enough, but it's not. He wants, and needs more.

Busted – 3 AM Lyrics 12 years ago
"Words don't get me far, when they don't mean shhhh"
^ Even though you tell yourself you're over them it doesn't get you anywhere, because deep down inside you know you're not. The words don't mean a thing because they aren't true. 'Don't think about you at night, I'm happy to be alone' 'I'm happy just to let you walk away' - You're contradicting yourself here.

Busted – 3 AM Lyrics 12 years ago
In regards to the actual song, the meaning's pretty straight forward. It's the bitter feelings of resentment after a breakup. You're trying to convince yourself that you hate them, but there's still a part of you that cares deep down.

"I don't give a damn about you
No nothing can change my mind
No way
I'm happy just to let you walk away
Don't think about you at night
I'm happy to be alone"
^ This is where you're trying to prove something, to that person and also to yourself. This is what you want them to believe: That you're fine, you don't miss them at all, and you aren't totally torn up inside.

"Calling you at three am
And I'm standing here right outside your door
And I don't think that my heart could take much more
Scared of breaking up again
And I just want it to be like it was before
Cause I don't think that my heart could take much more"
^ The chorus is your moment of weakness, where you're finally admitting to yourself: 'Yeah, I'm not over this person at all.' You desperately wish that they would take you back and everything could be like it was before. Your heart is breaking and you ache for that person. You do still care after all, and this is where you admit it to yourself.
