| you're taking the literal pigeons and transposing it onto the metaphorical ones from later. When they were children they LITERALLY watched the pigeons fly from 3 to 4 o'clock, which would have been the hour just after getting released from grade school. THEY, meaning the kids, were 'free as a bird' during that time...time to play and do what they liked. | |
| Cyndi Lauper – Into the Nightlife Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The song is about getting high and going to the club and wasting your life away, it's actually very sad when you pay attention. "Shot up like a satellite" = high as hell, and then "shirtless wonders wreck my sight" = having to get high to feel self confident because you think you're not good looking enough. | |
| Martika – Love, Thy Will Be Done Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Similar to "Like a Prayer" the song is simply an allegory between romantic love and the love of a God. It's not particularly cryptic. | |
| Tori Amos – Oom La Boomleigh Lyrics | 14 years ago |

You are correct in that the only time this song was performed by Tori, ever, was at a live radio broadcast. People have often said the songs were 'unreleased,' by Tori clarified later that they were totally improvised that day and on the spot. The only time Tori has EVER discussed this song was with a fan backstage at a concert in Washington, DC in 2000. He brought her a printout of the lyrics and asked her to sign them, and they talked about the song. She said that the song is basically just about how disoriented she gets while touring and how her fans keep her grounded, and about feeling a kinship to a place where she is surrounded by foreign things. "Johnny" was the name of a gay man who was a regular at the bars she played at when she was a teenager, and who died from AIDS complications. She said she felt his ghost with her on tour. And "Mr. P" refers to Mr. Puppethead, a puppet that was brought on The Dew Drop Inn tour and was frequently seen hanging out on the tour bus. This is what Tori wrote on the lyric sheet: "To James, Love Tori Amos, P.S. Say hi to the old men at the gay bar!' | Jenny Lewis – It Wasn't Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |

All of the psychobabble about the 'little red wagon' line is cracking me up. The line is a direct reference to the Toys 'R' Us commercials Jenny starred in as a child. In the most famous one she had to pull a little red wagon behind her, and when she asked the director why he said "Because it's your little red wagon and you gotta pull it." Sometimes a rose is just a rose, kids... |
