This song is so sweet. I think it's about the singer finally admitting that they're in love with someone.
sounds like she's a newborn christian who discovered her love for God & Its Glory. Also she's feeling fulfilled, content and no longer running.
Similar to "Like a Prayer" the song is simply an allegory between romantic love and the love of a God. It's not particularly cryptic.
To me this is a spiritual song and it's about carrying on in someone's name or spirit their work. Oddly enough yet another Prince song.
