| Atmosphere – In Her Music Box Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
This song is about a little girl whose dad is a criminal of some sort ("the man with the suit and tie we see at the court", "the police treat him like the star that she sees", meaning they pay attention to him). To escape from the present, she listens to rap. The music teaches her that "daddies drive around, mommies work night shifts". "Escape is a paradox because her childhood is a music box" means that she will grow up to be like her mom, working the night shift, fighting with her husband over a daughter neither of them know how to take care of. She's stuck in the lyrics, stuck in her dad's car, learning what she sees and hears. |
