Elliott Smith – See You in Heaven Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is perfect without words, and probably would be perfect with them. The rise and swell of the melody, the emotion in it...Bloody amazing.

I would as well.

Elliott Smith – True Love Lyrics 14 years ago
I would agree with several others who have said that this is about Elliott trying to find true love.
While there may be drug references in this song, I don't believe that that is the only thing it's about. It's wonderful, it's beautiful. Oh Elliott...We miss you.

Has anyone else been able to find this? I've looked on Youtube, and it's a noshow.

Hem – Sailor Lyrics 14 years ago
Wow. This song just touches me. The softness of the thing, and the underlying despair and hope that intermingle their way through the song, just amazes me. As far as I can tell it's about a guy or girl trying to find their way back into their love's heart. Knowing that they'll do anything, but not sure if they'll make it.

Dan Bull – Open Letter to Lily Allen Lyrics 14 years ago
My first Dan Bull song, and one that has been played over and over again on iTunes.

Devotchka – How It Ends Lyrics 14 years ago
Thom Yorke is great. Anyway...I agree, there is some sort of wistfulness that Urata and Yorke share. It's the thin part of the music - and I don't mean that in a bad way, just that the thin part is when you hear the most of them. How it ends sends shivers down my spine.

I'm adding this song to my mixtape when it starts playing on Youtube. Spooky.

Matt & Kim – Lightspeed Lyrics 14 years ago
His voice sounds so electronic. It's great. The last line in the song, 'It's a good thing this is just a game' makes me think that, obviously, it's all an analogy for life. I know, very deep. But the chorus about lightspeed and life following or staying behind makes it seem like he's wondering if he ends up becoming a big star, or famous, would people still care later? Just a very loose interpretation.

Matt & Kim – Turn This Boat Around Lyrics 14 years ago
Beautiful song. The meaning? I have no good idea. What I do know is that I can sit back, listen to Matt sing this, and everything feels alright.

Wilco – Poor Places Lyrics 14 years ago
"His jaw's been broken, his bandage is wrapped too tight. His fangs have been pulled and I really wanna see you tonight..."

Is it just me, or does anyone else think of Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer? Mind you, I've been listening to Wilco long before I watched Buffy, but on reflection I can see a few similarities.
