Not sure if this is about a lost love...or the death of a love. The melody and the sadness in his voice makes me feel like it is about someone dying. The part where it says "Could be when you get sad your memory slips" confuses me though. Anyone have any ideas about this song?? And ironically, this song makes me cry every time. |

I am looking at this song in a very simplistic way, I think it is about making it big in the music industry. First off, California- the place where people go to become a star. "By givin' in, what am I givin' up": The guys probably were asked to change this, or do that- which conflicted with what they were striving for. The big decision is to go with the changes or stay with what they want to do. "Every little thing's gotta be just right"- You always hear stories of how artists are branded to be perfect. Or it could refer to the fact that this is their chance and they can't screw it up. "I'd sing you a song but they blew it away"- The songs they were playing for the execs weren't "good enough", so they don't feel as confident as before. Also, I think "Little Mona Lisa" is referring to their songs...they are little masterpieces in their minds...and in mine too ;) |

| I am with teaalips. The meaning is very simple- a love triangle of sorts, which of course makes the one guy jealous and picks a fight. And like gotacrew2 said, the idea of the pickup truck was inspired by the ranger who was checking on them. KOL has a beautiful way of story telling, they get inspired and create something so fabulous. | |

I think this song is about his fiancee as well. 'The Face'- she's a supermodel and gorgeous. I am sure she is based in New York but he probably wants her to be with him in Tennessee. The second verse, he is definitely talking about himself, and I am sure how he enjoys (or enjoyed drugs)- 'the cowboys burning eyes' like red eyes, 'straight enough to breed'. But then it comes back to her, "I like your point of view, don't shy away, ride out the wave"- just asking her to stick with him and all his issues because he needs her. I love this song, wish it were written for me! I will go to Tennessee for you any day Caleb! :) haha |

Just watched an interview with Caleb and Jared; they were talking about this song. Caleb said that it was about "his girl"...meaning Lily. But I am still a bit confused. I feel as though he is saying she is there to help him fight his vices: "walks my ass home", "helps me to get up again", but then it seems she is enabling him too: "shoots me up and downtown, when I can't get me drunk enough", "showers me in boozes." |
