I can word for word relate to this song because of a personal experience, so for me, this is what it means. I think it's about someone who is in a relationship but has also started messing around with a friend, just kissing and flirting, but they want more. They are feeling this rush from something new and exciting, but they also don't have the person for themselves since it's kind of an affair and it has to be kept secret. It isn't that she's being homophobic by using the word gay. The point as to why this isn't ok is because it's saying it's ok to stereotype gays. The point is that the word gay is so commonly used as an insult, just like the word faggot. I'm gay too and a hot girl drunkenly kissing me at a party is the exact opposite of my worst nightmare. She's not on a date, she's probably at a party since she mentions she doesn't even know the girl's name. If someone bases their sexual orientation on a Katy Perry song, then they have more serious problems. People who kiss members of the same sex is because they've either been curious and had an attraction towards them, or because they are straight but while under the influence, they think it's fun, usually, those people are the most comfortable with their straight sexuality because the act means nothing to them. It would be incredibly hard to make a song that would make sense both forwards and backwards, whatever you hear when playing it backwards is just a coincidence. When you want to hear something, you're going to hear it. I could tell you it says something completely different and if you read those fake lyrics and listened to it backwards, you would think it were true. The song is about the feeling you get after coming down from a drug, NOT the feeling while you're high. Most drugs release seratonin and/or dopamine into your brain, these are natural chemicals in the brain that are used to give off pleasure in every day life activities like eating good food, having sex, being in love, etc. Drugs just release 100x the amount that your body would naturally release, which is why you feel high, however, once you come down, there is no more of that "feel good chemical" left in your brain, so you don't feel pleasure or happiness until your brain has the time to produce it again, which takes hours to days, depending on how much of the drug you used to drain it all at once. This is usually how people get addicted to drugs, because they can't wait for the body to naturally star producing the chemical again and they can't handle feeling so down for a while, so they keep synthetically altering their brain. |
