| Sky Sailing – A Little Opera Goes A Long Way Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
This is just a guess, but someone on YouTube commented on this song saying "A little opera goes a long way" is a quote from Batman Begins (you can look it up and see the clip online). It comes when young Bruce Wayne leaves the opera with his parents because he's scared of the bats (which leads to his parents being murdered). When Bruce's mom asks whats wrong, his dad says this to cover for Bruce's fear. SO...I think it's Adam Young's subtle way of saying "It's ok. I got you" to the recipient of this song. There are several phrases that show his desire to save/rescue this special someone, probably from loneliness and fear. I think the overall meaning of this song is "I'll do whatever it takes to cheer you up". It's a version of a love song focused on helping/comforting the other person. Whatever it means, it's a beautiful song musically. |

Beautiful song. But of course that can be said about almost every Paper Route song. Still confused as to why these guys have not gotten more popularity. Spread the word people! I think this song is exactly what it says in the second verse: "If there’s a sonnet That makes you feel wanted Then sugar I’m on it, sugar I’m on it" He's writing a love song to the girl he's totally in love with. It also has the feeling that she is running from him either because he hurt her in some way ("take me back") or just because she's just scared ("I'll protect you"). As the cliche says, "home is where the heart is", so he is begging the girl to "take me home" to "where I belong". I also love the line "Blue in the evening". It's a play on words, because if he is "the great sea" and she is "what [he's] reflecting", then when the sun sets, there is no light to reflect, so the sea is simply just blue. But he is also "blue" (as in sad) because she's not there with him to "reflect". (Maybe I'm reading way to far into this, but knowing PR, the lyrics are usually very poetic, so I'm guessing there is some kind of deeper meaning here, whether this is it or not). My two cents. Love the song. Can't wait for the rest of the album! |

First of all, amazing songs and amazing lyrics. One correction in the lyrics listed here: Between the chorus and the "I get so down..." bridge, there should be these two lines: "I'm always close, but I'm never enough. I'm always in line, but I'm never in love." I think this song is pretty straightforward. "I wanna thrive, not just survive" pretty much sums it up. He's saying he's not content with just getting by. He wants to excel, make a difference, go beyond what is expected. And right now, that's not happening so he's determined to change that. Beautiful song. |

| Paper Route – Tearing The House Down Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I absolutely love this song, but I have no clue what it means! Are there any other Paper Route fans out there??? This band is incredible and should be on the top of the charts. So musical and catchy and unique. This is the little bit I could come up with for a meaning: I think the writer is going through a really really rough time. Part of him just wants to give up, but part of him ("There's a place...") wants ("...that burns...", i.e. burns with desire) to push himself to find a better life ("...for something else"). He's gonna "keep on lookin' here" meaning continue to search inside himself to find a fix. And he's gonna tear this house (meaning his life) apart in order to find that. And since his life is falling apart already, "it's not that hard" to tear it apart the rest of the way. Just my own interpretation, so feel free to comment :) |

I love how ambiguous these words are, but I hate not knowing what they really mean. But I think they want it to be open to interpretation that best applies to each listener separately. But here's my shot at a meaning... It's about the band and their struggle through the music industry. They want to take the next step, but are lost and confused by the music market, and are crying out for someone to save them. "We hold these truths of evident The lies we used to represent Who we are because it was never ment to be" What used to be a dream/lie is becoming truth: they never thought they would actually go anywhere, but they're getting more and more popular. They're a band that is actually musical, but they're realizing that what sells isn't necessarily what they're used to singing: "Without the meaning in the rhyme" "Out of rhythm with our time" And they're also realizing how much effort they have to put in to keep going: "When our soul is gone what will we miss?" "It keeps demanding more and more and more" I could be totally off on this. But maybe it will appease someone's craving to know what it means....if anyone still looks at this page. I know this is an old song. It's just so good though!! |

| Paper Route – Second Chances Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Awesome song. So simple, but so amazing. I love how all the different melody lines fit together so perfectly. This song basically is about a relationship that falls apart. The guy wants to give up cause he's tired of the poor treatment he's received from the girl. The girl claims she loves the guy and that he should just get over his anger. But he concludes that he doesn't love her "cause love would find forgiveness." So he ends it and looks forward to a second chance at finding the one. Why are these guys not more popular?? They are so good!! |

First of all, everyone needs to know about FOF. They're such an awesome band. As for this song, I take it as a plea from God to just slow down your life from all the things we are running to and come back to Him. He will not only forgive, but actually remove our burdens. He has power over sin, and humbly relying on Him is the only way we can have the strength to overcome our sin and guilt. He wants to help us so bad if we'll just stay close to Him! |
