| Tool – 4 Degrees Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Based on the refrain, I do believe this is a song of love, and the protagonist is trying to convince someone that they should be together. He feels that even though they're different, they have a connection that is rare and thus begging her(?) to take a jump and try something out of her comfort zone. I love the the caveman-ish lyrics to this song, makes it both weird and powerful, just like how love makes us feel sometimes! |

My take on this song; is that it is about maturity! What makes this song so special is the atmosphere of enlightment and the confrontation of your own flaws (tedious path..), compared to much of Tools earlier work. I think we can agree that Tools earlier material was more aggressive, finger pointing and destructive. This is about leaving all the hate behind, instead of punching your attacker in the face, you turn the other way and wait out the shitstorm. I can really connect to this song and I assure you that it have helped me keeping myself calm when I have wanted to explode. It's about being the bigger man but in a humble way and not in a self righteous way. There are always people who will try to drain you, but it's up to you if you want to make a beef out of it, or turn the other way and wait it out. "I must keep reminding myself of this" is a mantra I will keep within me until I forget. |

| Alice in Chains – I Stay Away Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I believe this song is about "escaping" as a result of becoming emotionally numb. The song seems to describe the feelings between two persons, the narrator determined to just disappear with no second thoughts. While the other part is seemingly questioning the decision the narrator has made, and is left mourning a person who feels no guilt at all for going "south". Beautiful song. |

| Crowbar – ...and Suffer As One Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This song is damn heavy! I think the purpose of this song is to encourage you to reach absolute bottom if you're heading there. Feel the pain and burn yourself out so that you can recharge yourself, instead of just avoiding and not confronting your problems. "Following your head might be a long, long road to nowhere", interesting line and I take it as "logic vs emotion". A smart person is more likely to avoid trouble than a person who thinks with his/her heart and this song seems to be encouraging to follow your heart atleast sometimes so that you can get a taste of conflict and the aftermath of it all. |

I do believe that this beautiful song simply tries to describe that uneasy feeling you get sometimes when you recall a particular memory. This seems to be about remembering summer. Do you ever feel that? It might be a split second of a scent that makes you relate to summer, and just in that moment you are struck by happiness and great sadness at the same time. The beauty of being able to, for just one second, feel something so strong, even though summer is since long gone. It doesn't even have to be a memory of something substantial like an event or something. In fact usually when I'm struck by this feeling it's usually just related to a place that I'm fond of, but I can almost never put my finger on what it is exactly that I miss so much. |

Say what you want about Nevermind as an album, to me this is the finest song. Probably my favourite Nirvana song lyrically, it reeks of jealousy and paints the feeling of pure frustration very well. Really feels like being on a ship going nowhere, and you can't steer the wheel. I'll keep fighting jealousy until it's fucking gone. |

| Misfits – Hollywood Bablyon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I agree that this is a song about shallowness, exclusivity and fake glamour. It's a damn good song, love Danzigs lyrics! | |
| José González – Hints Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Many good interpretations here! I like to think that this song is about the dull everyday life, making mistakes that could have been avoided, being given no appreciation for your good work. Being ignored makes you wonder for what purpose you even bother, getting hints will most likely make you feel, more, not so lost. |

| Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should've Come Over Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This might be my most favorite love song of all time, listening Jeff Buckley is the best way to mend a broken heart haha. Simply brilliant song and it's very self explaining. | |
| The Beatles – I Feel Fine Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I agree with quixy, I think this song is about material love! Gotta love Johns lyrics, especially lyrics like these, it's funny/dark/witty but still lovely at the same time! Love this song. | |

I always got the impression that this song was about having doubts, but no one understands why. So you keep continuing your routines because everyone turns the deaf ear on you when you express your doubts. I get the feeling that this song might be about fame and the band itself. Sounds like a "you have it all" scenario, maybe Shannon had doubts about the band? When trying to explain why he had doubts he mights have sounded ungrateful and the band was offended and asked "what more do you want?". Making Shannon sound like the bad guy, hence "you're leaving me with a hated identity". Pure speculation of course! But I also think the song is about not changing as a person because of success. But in general terms I think this song is about: staying true to who you are, and being misunderstood when questioning something that is seen upon as being "good". |

| José González – Down the Line Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I love how it feels like he's a friend sitting next to you telling you this, that's one really interesting thing about this song! It's about learning from your mistakes and not being afraid of getting your hands dirty! It's like they say, "what doesn't kill you". And he finishes the song with some brilliantly encouraging words. |

| Mad Season – Long Gone Day Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song makes me think about the smell of rain on a damp summer morning. As many has said I think this song is about recalling the good days, but I also think it's about dealing with the bad days. I always thought that Marks lines sounded like he's at peace with himself, he wants the rain to pour down so he can mourn with "heavens tears". While Laynes lines feels like pure sadness and like he has been abandoned, instead of embracing the rain like Mark he just feels lost and wants it to stop. |

| Mark Lanegan – Wildflowers Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I find this song pretty hard to decipher, I'll have a shot at it anyways! The overall feeling I get from this song is that he is waiting for someone to come home, so that they can make a decision of importance. Let us say that this song is about two lovers, in that case I believe that "river" is a metaphor for "home". And I believe that "wild flowers" stands for unconditional love. The "my mind is an open book with nothing inside" seems to be about his mental state as he is waiting. Tl;dr : It's about the moment just before you have to choose love, or let go. The music really sets the mood for that interpretation, you get that "before the storm" wibe! |

| Chris Cornell – Enemy Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think this song is about you being your worst enemy, but you are giving people the impression that you regret nothing. People might be giving you shit and you appear unmoved by it, when really no one is criticizing you as much as yourself, in silence. Maybe it's related to what CC felt when doing this album (Scream)? Personally i think this is the best song on the album. |

| Little Dragon – Fortune Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Brilliant indeed! As for the meaning of the song, it seems to be about being on "the top of the mountain" and exploiting it. While being well aware that the fortune would result in a major backlash, making people think that you're obnoxious! | |
| Lykke Li – Tonight Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Beautiful song! To me this song seems to be about a friendship on the edge of becoming a relationship, but none of them takes the step. Thus also dealing with the lack of communication in their friend/relationship. Sometimes we hurt the ones we love the most by saying something thoughtless, and sometimes by saying nothing at all. The verses deals with her unability to open up about her insecurities and feelings. And the chorus seems to be her pleading for (him) to hold her put for tonight. Which in other words would make him take a stance. We always want the other part to take the first step. But sometimes we have to be able to show ourselves fragile and swallow our pride. Conclusion: nothing ventured, nothing gained. |
