| Breaking Benjamin – Water Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I really think that this is lyrics to a conversation between God and Ben about Ben's drinking problem. The start is God talking to Ben: "I only want what is best for you, I won't ever let you drown, No I won't ever let you down." Then the chorus is Ben's feelings about his problem and how he doesn't feel he has any control over his drinking problem: "Cause I am my enemy The water's up to the knee I never wanted anything from you, Yes I do, yes I do My engine's running on dry, My head's so fucked up inside Shut up, I know I said so..." Also, the line: "I shove your head underwater" Could be a reference to baptism, where God is trying to bring Ben back. Anyways, awesome song to lift weights to. BB! |

| Blink-182 – This Is Home Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Love the song, but as for the meaning: I think that it's about the band getting back together and performing on stage together like the old days. They feel the energy of the crowd and they step out onto the stage and are suddenly "at home" in front of the crowd. |

| Rise Against – Hairline Fracture Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Here's just a crazy idea of an interpretation, I think it's about a family who's father in the military and 9/11 happens. They have all these plans of becoming a normal family and living their lives in peace. However 9/11 happens and all their plans are no longer perfect, because 9/11 creates the crack in "the surface" of their plans. No their plans are almost entirely destroyed. As if they were "buried" in the sand. "Like a building condemned, (Can we indemnify ourselves if we don't face what we're against.)" This is referring to the twin towers, and then they're asking if we don't go fight the terrorists can we still defend ourselves against this from happening in the future. "A child unloved that then grows up, to love what we despise" This is referring to Bin Laden, how he has now grown to love violence and killing innocent civilians. "We're broken but still breathing We are wounded but we are healing We pick up right where we left off Breathe on the ashed that remain So that these coals may become fire To guide our way" This is saying that 9/11 really hurt us as a country and screwed our way of life up, but we're trying to get over it. The ashes of 9/11 help remind us of what happened, and they help to kindle a flame within us to fight against those who hate us. "I walk on wounds that seldom prove to slow me down I laugh this constant pain away So you can't tell But there it lies under the smiles It drains me mile after mile But seldom proves to slow me down Here I go' This is the father saying that he misses his family and the wounds of war keep piling up but he keeps going. He tries to laugh away his pain with his fellow soldiers and he tries keep fighting even though he is slowly being worn down by the pains of war. "Here I go" is him going out into battle and having doubts as he goes out to the battlefield. Just a crazy idea, but I thought it kind of fit well with some of the lyrics. |

| Rise Against – Disparity By Design Lyrics | 14 years ago |

"Disparity By Design" is about elitism and how people tell their kids that "they can be anything they want to be", but this is not actually be true. The system is rigged so that those who are rich will stay rich, and their children will have the free ride through life because their parents were doctors or lawyers or CEOs. So the system is designed to cause disparity to all the people who actually work hard and believe that they can go as high as their abilities will take them. It's about how the social class structure is extremely rigid in America and how the richest people resist the upward movement of people from the middle class. How far a kid might go in life depends on whether their parents went to Ivy League Schools or are some wealthy investor. When a person from the middle class fails to make it "big time" a rich snob can just say "Oh, well you didn't work as hard as I did." When in reality it is the system that is designed to screw over the middle class people. And in the end the narrator says, "Like a single domino That falls like the rest stay vertical We're fed these empty fairy tales And I'm through believing" Meaning that he's not going to keep on believing the lies the people at the top are saying when they speak the words, "Work hard and one day you can be like me." because he knows it's just not true. I don't think it's necessarily against capitalism, just against the social elites who have designed the system so that it is not the best person who gets to the top. They hold others down in order to keep themselves where they are in life. Middle Class FTW! |

| Secondhand Serenade – Maybe Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Reminds me of going off to college and possibly never being with this great friend of mine. I really want to be with her in the future, but I don't know if she realizes that whenever I see her I am truly happy and that when I tell her I care about her I'm not decieving her just because we only I have a few months left together. I just don't want us to go off to college and no longer have what we have now :( The song from his viewpoint, however is probably about his divorce and what he is feeling about it. |

| P.O.D. – Alive Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Definitely a song about finally feeling God in his life. "I can't deny you" ~Now that he's felt God, he can no longer deny his power/grace. "Tell the world how I feel inside, even though it might cost me everything" ~This may be referring to P.O.D. coming out as a Christian Rock Band, previous Rock Bands who publicly stated their beliefs were often not taken seriously. P.O.D. was one of the first bands to come out about their faith, and were still taken seriously afterwards. This may be him saying that revealing his faith my cost him all of his fortune and fame that he has gained through the band. "No that I see you (I'll believe no matter what they say)" ~No matter what anyone says about God, he's not going to push Him away from his life, because he's truly felt him for the first time. But then again lyrics are all about your own interpretation, which is usually what makes the song more meaningful to you. Anyways that's what I get. |
