This Is Home Lyrics

We work and slave the day away
We're wasting perfect families
We fucking fight like vagabonds
We dance like fucking animals

Don't stop the band is coming on
Rude boys and punks will shout a lot
Police cars bring cuffs and loaded guns
Kids scream but laughing as they run

I-I-I, I-I-I, I-I-I hope, do you wanna
Let go o-o-o, o-o-o 'cause this is home

Gunshots the punks are rioting
The stage is slowly crumbling
Smash doors and try to stay alive
A few drinks and you look of broken light

They'll hide and call the cavalry
Let's dance in perfect harmony
Get close the crowd will come apart
That girl will try to make you hard

I-I-I, I-I-I, I-I-I hope, do you wanna
Let go o-o-o, o-o-o do you wanna
This time I-I-I, I-I-I, I hope you wanna
Let go o-o-o, o-o-o 'cause this is home

I-I-I, I-I-I, I-I-I hope, do you wanna
Let go o-o-o, o-o-o, do you wanna
This time I-I-I, I-I-I, I hope you wanna
Let go o-o-o, o-o-o 'cause this is home

Love the song, but as for the meaning:

I think that it's about the band getting back together and performing on stage together like the old days. They feel the energy of the crowd and they step out onto the stage and are suddenly "at home" in front of the crowd.

My Interpretation

Just my opinion. I like the "That girl will try to make you hard" line.

i love this song! the only things i'd fix are instead of "we're wasting perfect families" its "we're raised in perfect families" and instead of "rude boys and punks will shout a lot" its "rude boys and punks will shout along"

oh and it's "I-I-I, I-I-I, I-I-I hope/ Do you want to let go o-o-o, o-o-o/ do you want to this time/ I-I-I, I-I-I I hope you want to let go o-o-o, o-o-o/ cause this is home" and "a few drinks and a lot of broken lights"

I think the first chorus is

I-I-I, I-I-I, I-I-I hope Do you wanna let go? Yo-o-o,o-o-oh 'Cause this is home

Instead of "Get close, the crowd is on the bar (?)" it is "Get close, the crowd will come apart"

I think this song is more about music itself, and it's ability to inspire people. People with authority always try to control music, and I think Tom is saying that music is the one form of art that you can't control, that people will always defend music, and come up with their own meanings.

The chorus is asking if you'd be willing to give up your favorite music, and that people feel most at home while they're listening to their music.
