The Cinematic Orchestra – To Build A Home Lyrics 15 years ago
I always saw this song as a love song. The wanting to be with someone the building of a home to live in together. For whatever reason it didn't happen but like someone else said he wouldn't give up the home and kept the dream. I don;t believe his love died. But i love The interpretation of the tree @dibo gave!

I think the home was built maybe as just a dream and for whatever reason (maybe he was too ignorant or she moved away no one took it away it just disappeared from both of them). it became derelict but thought of and longed for by him.
How can a tree be as old as him in a house he built for his lover? I think maybe he was still living with his folks. And he wanted the home to be with her where he doesn't feel alone . I think He didn't give up. That they both held on tightly to be with each other again. Once they both appreciated what they had before. again just like Dibo said. The tree signifies maturity and climbing it a new perspective on the world.

My interpretation of "that home" is the final chapter. "that the rooms are a collection of our lives"

So one can only assume that they got it togther by holding on and actually built the home they had been dreaming of. and lived happily ever after :) hehehe

The Cinematic Orchestra – That Home Lyrics 15 years ago
This is a follow on to Build a home . Well thats how i always interpreted it to be, anyway. Seeing as it is sung by the same guy. I think seperating the two tells a little story. how he built the home (to build a home) and then "that home" having lived in it. The doors moan and the stairs are leaning.... they are old. been there a while. The rooms are a collection of their (our) lives Meaning they lived together it was worth building the home. The tempo is more upbeat happy hopeful and they together feel at home. I almost breathe a sigh of relief and feel that is what he is doing within the last two lines.
