| While this is definitely a valid interpretation, I think this is much more of a stretch than a human relationship interpretation. Some of the things you've mentioned do fit with the drug idea, but they also fit just as well with the relationship idea. It's common for people to assume drugs are the meaning of a song when the song seems abstract, but this is actually not the case most of the time, despite what many people seem to think. | |

| Those are the lyrics on all the lyrics sites, but they are absolutely horrible and don't encapsulate half of the actual meanings behind the lyrics. It looks like someone just took the lyrics and pasted ti into Google translate. I saw a much better translation a while back, but I've been unable to find it. | |

Notice how there is a "Lyric Correction" menu option, which I very clearly selected. It's even highlighted in bright orange letters for you. This sight is primarily about interpretations, but anything in the dropdown menu has an intended purpose as well. They weren't just put there out of boredom. Slight mistakes and variations in lyrics can make a world of difference in the overall meaning. You should be aware of that before you try to interpret anything. |

It surprises me that nobody has suggested this possibility, so I'll propose a case for it. Something that's become quite common in society is the idea that positions of fame (e.g. actors/actresses, singers, models, etc.) transform people into simple puppets for corporate greed, and so they frown upon the idea of selling themselves out to be a fake cop in a movie, a cover girl, what have you. But, by human nature, we all crave attention, supremacy, and a chance to live in fantasy. Near the beginning of the song, the phrase "Voyeuristic overdrive" would seem to indicate a lustful onlooking of some sort - In this case, a secret envy for those who sacrifice their individuality for a phony life of corporate moneymaking. "This is the new flesh, This is the open door, We've got everything you wanted," ~ "Dominated By all you hated, his will make you ULTRAnumb" - -These lines seem to express a sort of hidden desire for a fresh opportunity which, if it were to present itself, would allow someone to start anew in a life full of potential. Given this opportunity, of course, it would be much too fantastic for most people to pass up, even if they admittedly hate the very concept of being a puppet for the media. "Reality's a plague; We're the medication" - Further indicates that reality (regular life) is just common existence in a growing population, but there remains a chance (medication) to effectively remove you from reality (which means placing you into a new non-reality, or fantasy). Everyone wants to be special; nobody wants to succumb to the disease of the ordinary, so to speak. "One confession is such perfection, Your sweet repression can't hide who you really are," - The first step is simply to admit to a lust for a fabricated life, at which point it will become extremely difficult for you to let go, thereby "numbing" you to your prior skepticism and former sense of self in general. Who you really are, it may be said, is a a hunter of attention seeking out raise and glory (This is a fundamental characteristic of human nature). The idea fits quite nicely with the rest of the song, but I'll leave it at that, since I've already taken up much more text space than I had originally intended. The song can really apply to any of humanity's lustful aspirations or desires hidden beneath an external display of disapproval. I simply use the "corporate puppet" example because it seems to fit especially well. |

I see how one might interpret the song in this way, but there is by absolutely no means enough evidence here to support the idea to the extent you claim. It's incredibly easy to attribute sexual meanings to this type of lyric. As you said, nearly all of it can be applied to sex, but, sadly, that is the case with the majority of songs. I don't doubt that you have noticed similarities between the ideas of this song and the experiences of people you've known, but that quite frankly doesn't do much to support a sexual theme in the song. There have been "That's what she said" jokes made several times in simple paragraphs referring to anything from brushing teeth to organizing file cabinets. Each perfectly innocent phrase can be very cohesive with sexual themes, but that quite simply isn't the case. I can't wholly deny the accuracy of your interpretation, but it's important to note that songs od this nature need to be interpreted very carefully; it's just not sufficient enough to simply say that "sexual themes can be applied". |

I can't make out what the very first part of the song is, but I'm 99% sure that it isn't "who put words". It sounds like a single word to me (most lyrics sites have it listed as "putrid", but that doesn't sound right to me, and they're all copied and pasted from the same original type-up of the lyrics. They all have the exact same mistakes lol) I just can't figure out what that word is. I make out an "ed" sound, so it's probably a verb-based adjective, but I can't find any words that sound right. |

I don't have the booklet, but some here are some things that I can tell by listening to the song (and by referencing a couple rules of grammar): Dollars signs > Dollar signs (singular) Wont make you our savior > Won't make you our savior (apostrophe) Done before you started > Done before you've started (grammar rule, but I'm 95% sure that 'you've' is the word used in the song as well) [also applies to "You're done before you started"] Blessed are he who sees the word > Wretched are he who sees the word ('Blessed' is used in the very first line,[are he who SPEAKS the word], but the second time is 'Wretched' [are he who SEES the word]) You’re televised to tell yours lies > You’re televised to tell your lies ('yours' should be 'your') POSSIBLE corrections (if anyone has the lyrics booklet, feel free to validate/refute any of these) Holiness are well rehearsed > Holiness so well rehearsed ('are well rehearsed' doesn't really make sense, and, in my opinion, it doesn't even sound like they say it in the song. "so well rehearsed" is what I hear, and it would make more sense,) Walk on father out to sea > Walk on farther out to sea (It sounds like that to me - especially in the last part of the song. It changes the meaning of the line, but It makes a bit more sense to me) Money made messiahs > Money-made messiahs (Grammar rule: i.e., "'messiahs' became messiahs for money", not "The money physically created the messiahs) Again, I'm not sure about those last ones, but it's worth checking if anyone has the official lyric booklet handy |
