Ummm...no. It's a somewhat smug statement of how popular he was with Carly's female friends, which gave her much cause for jealousy during their marriage. |

Autobiographical, about his struggle with drug abuse and addiction. Monkey is slang for a cigarette made from cocaine paste and tobacco. |

It's very seldom played on the radio, but when it is, they ALWAYS cut the last verse off, as if it's too hot politically. The song is so short, it can't be for time reasons. |

| James Taylor – That's Why I'm Here Lyrics

A little soul-searching. The first part, he's just himself, not the superstar JT, helping a friend. The next part deals with the death of John Belushi, his good friend, who overdosed. JT nearly died 5 times from overdoses, and contemplates how it could have been him. The fortune and fame acknowledges the icon that he's become, and the lifetime fan following that he has. The last part is a reference to his 2nd wife (at the time) and how they needed to work through their problems. |

This was the last song on the album, and JT just needed to write some filler, as he was told by the recording company execs. He was offended by this, and somewhat spitefully decided to give them any old nonsense just to fulfill the contract and get his "$20G" payment. |

| James Taylor – Money Machine Lyrics

Not related at all. This album was 3 years after his last, and he was being pressured to turn out a moneymaker. He's expressing his cynicism of the recording industry, which saw him as a money machine to be turned on at will, rather than a creative outlet. The line to which you refer is simply more cynicism about how having money will solve all your problems - get your song played, make you popular, get your 'baby' to come back to you. |

This is all about Watergate and the crashing down of the Nixon administration. Commercially it failed because Nixon resigned just about the time the album was released, making the criticism moot. |

No, way off. This song is about his daughter Sally as an infant, who was sick and needed comforting. Read the lyrics more literally and you will see. |
