Daddy's Baby Lyrics

Daddy's baby what's got you thinking
What's got you sinking so low
It there something I should know
Something new to you

Daddy's baby fussing and fretting
Keeping on getting it wrong
She can only last so long
She goin' for a song…

So sing her a lullabye-bye
Baby don't like to cry
So sing her a lullabye-bye
Swaddle and swing her
Sing her a lullabye

She makes her feelings known to me
Her every side is shown to me
And in our time alone
Our love has surely grown...of its own
Silent as a stepping stone
Silently as the dawn was breaking
Soft and clear
And my tears were dry
And my fears had flown
So I called my love my home

Cover art for Daddy's Baby lyrics by James Taylor

This is one of my favorite songs. I think he is talking about a significant other. He's saying that she is keeping something from him. She's acting out, but for what seems to be for no reason. She's usually good about saying or expressing how she feels, but for some reason not now. It's supposed to be "Solid" as a stepping stone. And "her" tears were dry, and my "fears" had flown. She finally tells him and for some reason it makes them closer. He realizes that with her is where he neeeds to be. ("so I called my love my home)
