Switchfoot – Lonely Nation Lyrics 15 years ago
Love the intro. Love it, love it, LOVE IT.
Rest of the song's good too, and I actually think this is my fave Switchfoot album in general at this point.

Dream Theater – The Ministry of Lost Souls Lyrics 15 years ago
The way the vocals sound on the lines "Living in a world without you / is living in no world at all" almost give me goosebumps. James LaBrie does amazing vocals - this song, A Change of Seasons, Octavarium, Pull Me Under... Anyway, long story short, DT is amazing.

I hope they can manage without MP...

Iron Maiden – Rime of the Ancient Mariner Lyrics 15 years ago
@Tausch Um:

Yes, Dream Theater is amazing. One of my favorite bands, and yes, as you say, the king of long songs. A couple of personal favorites of mine are "The Count of Tuscany" for its instrumentals, and "Octavarium" for its sheer epicness. Even their shorter songs are still kinda on the long side, but with such a good band that's okay. Dream Theater makes music that's so good, you don't care how long it is. I can listen to all of "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" and just lose myself in the music, loving each part individually and feeling surprised when I finally make it to "Losing Time." Usually long songs are justified by being so good that time is irrelevant. Every 10-min.+ song I have heard has been good enough to get away with it.

Oh, and another good band for long songs is Opeth. A personal fave there is "Ghost of Perdition." 10 minutes of pure beauty.

Iron Maiden – Satellite 15...The Final Frontier Lyrics 15 years ago
I doubt, from the almost casual references to space that are scattered throughout the lyrics, that this is referring to space as being "The Final Frontier." I think that, as this guy is talking about how he's lived a good life and has done so much, and how he's not afraid of death anymore, that he is implying that death is the Final Frontier. Death is the one thing that we never know until we get there. It is the real Final Frontier. I can see this theme fitting in with the rest of the album, as it contains many references to space, but that might just be part of a double entendre. There are a few other songs that contain cryptic references to death or are more specifically focused on death as a lyrical theme. So I really think that this album is really mostly about death, but it just happens to happen partly in space to give it a slightly darker and alien context.

Iron Maiden – Starblind Lyrics 15 years ago
We need comments. NOW. This is such an amazing song, I can listen to it over and over and over and not get tired of it. The instrumentation is amazing, and Bruce's voice sounds epic. This is way too much awesomeness for 7:48, but Maiden pulls it off, as they do with every song on this amazing-as-hell album!
