Random comment perhaps, but i reading 'Don't Waste Your Life' by John Piper and i just read the line 'There's more of God's glory to be seen and savoured through suffering than through self-serving escape'. So the similar line in this song looks as though it has been at least influenced by this Christian leader's sentiments! (Needless to say, I sang the line in the book rather than simply reading it...) |

| Hmmm... i hear the tag bit near the end as 'save our souls FROM all our dreams come true'... i may be wrong, it's been known to happen! But that bit of the song just cuts me to the core. I don't wanna live my life according to just my will or just my desires, but to see God's Kingdom come on Earth... and I 'serial sleep' with the best of them! And just a side-note, the way that they sing that line is just the most incredible part of any song ever...i have been known to exaggerate but i do love it! | |

Yeah, it sounds like a biographical song - what you see is largely what you get! Couple of things that it generally seems to be saying though - there are some things that are worth fighting for, not necessarily militarily, but there are things that are worth facing oppression and opposition for. 'I'd rather die than live without mercy and love' is just a beautiful lyric (and incredibly well sung, that is NOT an easy note for a guy to get to!). Awesome song musically too...kinda goes without saying though! |

The whole album has a WW2 kinda theme, i think this goes along with that - it sounds like it's a collaborator with the Nazis who murdered because murder was his only chance of surviving. I'd guess at maybe eastern european collaborator because of the reference to 'the mother', Catholicism has always been massive in E. Europe. But that might be a little too much detail (i study history, it's a weakness!). The moral of it is pretty self-explanatory by the preachy bit at the end - God offers forgiveness, His grace is free and we can be secure in the knowledge that when we are truly sorry then God washes our sin and shame away - Jesus has suffered for it so we don't have to torture ourselves anymore! (and brainwashing??? seriously???) Honestly, this band is incredible! SOOOOOO Psyched bout new album! |

This song kind of reminds me of Nicky Cruz, the gang member who surrendered his life to Christ after David Wilkerson went and spent time in the area. Cruz wrote a book called 'Run Baby Run' and Wilkerson's got one called 'The Cross and the Switchblade'. Awesome story. ...and an AMAZING song! |
