God Save the Foolish Kings Lyrics
Midnight at the school behind the bleachers
There's gonna be a rumble
The lions and the kings
And my baby, she cries in her bed and she worries
And my baby, she prays
God save the kings of the world
Promise me you won't do anything crazy
I promise you I won't do anything, baby
Promise me
I promise you nothing
We're outcasts only cause we chose to dream
We're princes who'd rather dine with thieves
We're honest only cause the truth, it can not hide
God save us, the foolish kings
Midnight at the school behind the bleachers
There's gonna be a rumble
But the cops won't be notified
So the lions bare their arms
But the kings gonna break the hearts of their babies tonight
We're daring only cause we've none to lose
We're lions missing half our teeth
We're honest only cause the truth, it can not hide
God save us, the foolish kings
God save us, the foolish kings
And we fight cause
We'd rather break our bones
Than brave this loneliness
We draw blood cause we're just trying
To draw out some significance
But I met God on the street tonight
And he said, choose your battles wisely
Or you'll never find me
Promise me you won't do anything crazy
Promise me
I promise you
I promise you one thing
We're devils trying to earn our angels wings
We stumble at every turn indeed
We're desperate, chasing down the love to just survive
God save us, the foolish kings
(Promise me you won't do anything crazy)
God save us, the foolish kings
(Promise me, promise me)
God save us, God save us
The foolish kings
There's gonna be a rumble
The lions and the kings
And my baby, she cries in her bed and she worries

Also, I think this song may be written from personal experience. This might be the crime he committed to go to jail like he talks about in the song "Ghost".
I wish I knew more about Tim, as I assume the lyrics are from his point of view, because I think the same thing. Actually, I wish I knew more about all of them, but I most want to know if our suspicions are accurate.

This song kind of reminds me of Nicky Cruz, the gang member who surrendered his life to Christ after David Wilkerson went and spent time in the area. Cruz wrote a book called 'Run Baby Run' and Wilkerson's got one called 'The Cross and the Switchblade'. Awesome story.
...and an AMAZING song!
The Cross and the Switchblade is a really good movie.

I think this song is about how as christians we may live the lives we need to live, but we don't do it with our hearts in it; its like when he says we're only " honest only cuz the truth - it cannot hide". Kings represent us cuz we have so much as Christians and we squander it. I agree with rescued 115 about the gang theme in the song.
This song is pretty cool. It has a pretty sweet music video to go with it, too. It's about two gangs fighting. I love the part that starts with, "I met God on the street tonight . . . "; It's so cool. Good song. Watch the video.
The best song on their new album! ♥
Oh, and watch the video. ;)

I believe this song is about two opposing sides who aren't getting along. However, they have no idea why. The wife/girl-friend doesn't understand but at the end, she gets her promise. This song is amazing. God can save lives!
BTW, the video is really good too!
