| Trivium – Thrown Into the Fire Lyrics | 5 years ago |
|
@[collin800:35349] Thought I'd pop by and confirm the meaning of the lyrics. Yeah. "Your mysterious ways" is the age-old referenced verse when people ask "Why does God allow bad things to happen?". I've learned that people often ask questions they clearly do not want answers to. It's important to consider the intent of the questioner. Trivium isn't asking with sincerity. Rather, with anger and resentment. They do not really wish to be blessed, graces, healed, or saved. They are mocking "God". A delightful Irony. I'd like to ask Trivium who exactly are they singing about? A God that doesn't exist? They are indirectly saying one of two things: 1. That if God existed, He wouldn't allow these things. Therefore He doesn't exist. Therefore I don't know what all the anger and shouting is about. "Hey, you God that don't exist. C'mere! I'll punch you for the bad you've done!" 2. God does exist, but they are putting themselves on higher moral ground. Let's pretend they are talking about the God of the Bible. Don't want to idolize and create another God that doesn't exist. here's how that conversation goes: "Hey God. Creator of all, infinite in Wisdom and Power. Bringer of ultimate justice. We acknowledge that you exist and if The Bible says all these things about you then it all must be true but, yeah we think you're doing it all wrong." Putting my money on 1 though. |

I love WovenWar, but this song jumps out every time I hear it. The lyrics are absolutely astounding. I think this song speaks from the perspective of a Christian, especially a public figure.. a musician, who is persecuted by other.. Christians. "I'm not the one you've read about I'm not your sanctuary seat I'm not the one they've told you about I've never claimed to be of your belief" and "Yet the claims keep coming The elaborate stories" The musician that ends up being misrepresented, like in a news article. A lot of Christians in media are under immense pressure from their fans and communities to live these perfect lives. Sometimes they do things that might appear questionable and they get a lot of heat for it. "When you dig up dirt it's your hands to be cleaned And you are filthy from the grave you dig" and "And there's no mistaking all of you who fake it" These persecutors are sinning and "dirtying" themselves by persecuting this person and bringing up all the bad things they've done when they are in no position to do so. Hypocrites. The Bible is clear about how things should be handled when you somehow come to knowledge that a brother or sister is doing bad things. "I am not a hallow sound or a glorifying light of deeds And I am not a conscience found reciting lines down on my knees" They're saying, "I'm just like you, a human. I'm not just this conscience that is perfectly holy and praying all the time. I fall, just as you do." "I am a calloused hand from gripping the rock" This is a reference to the scene in the Bible where Jesus said to a woman's persecutors: "He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her." This person is holding on to that rock, never casting it. I speak from experience when I say "church" people can be really stupid and do nasty things. This song is for them. So to solidify all this, I found this fitting excerpt from an article about persecution: "Paul angrily stated in I Corinthian 6:5-6, “I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!” By doing this in full view of non-believers, we shame the reputation of Christ. We are redeemed, but many times we don’t live like the redeemed and we don’t reflect the Redeemer. Gandhi once said that “I love your Christ…it is your Christians that I don’t like very much.” This is because he saw the two-faced nature of many believers." |

I looked at some of the vids aild made while recording The Powerless Rise, and after checking out the comments on here it makes sense that the song is about abortion. I think one can also relate the song to today's youth tbh. In our words lies a lot of power, and in youth a lot of people are regarded as nothing just because they don't fit into what certain persons find as acceptable or outside of their little bubbles. Ofc it doesn't end with words.. This song just reminds me that we as humans have to regard 'life' highly, whether in everyday life or when it comes to the rest of the world \m/ |

| Hey troll.. You picked your name well.. Couldn't think of a better name for an internet troll.. If the comments sicken you, then stop torturing yourself and click on the 'new page' button dude.. Really.. The idea of this website is for fans to do exactly what the site name says, to discuss songs and to share thoughts about songs. If you think everybody should just, lol, appreciate music, and not discuss thoughts, perhaps you should join some website for classical music.. Were you high when you wrote this post? | |

| Seventh Day Slumber – Oceans From The Rain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I thought about this song for a while and couldn't understand what he meant by "You make oceans from the rain".. But i came to a conclusion in my mind ^^ .. 2 me Rain means two things.. Sometimes it means life, or life giving aspects, other times it symbolizes pain, or being miserable or really down, maybe even depression. I feel in this song it means both. Sometimes we mess up, and the rain comes, and we get 'down' and sometimes dont understand.. But that's what God uses to break us down only to build us up again, giving us life from our pain.. And God's end product? Beautiful, tranquil, calm oceans.. :) | |
